I only actually realised TGI in the TGI Friday's stood for anything when someone pointed it out to me a couple of years ago.
Id never heard that expression before (or since)
You clearly don't use Facebook, there's people posting TGIF status updates every Friday.Id never heard that expression before (or since)

That I've become the 'grown up' in the relationship with my parents.
I mentioned this the other day to a couple of mates who just stared back at me, nodding sagely.

My father once sent me a link to a house he was interested in, and asked where Nova Scotia was in relation to my address( for the record, 1700 km east of my house), apparently Google maps doesn't work once you pass 65 years of age

Why is the stub end the right way? That way you get banana crap in your fingernails.
No you don't and its much easier.Try it, it will enhance your banana experience.
Think I will stick to the "wrong" method

When I was young my father said to me: "Knowledge is Power....Francis Bacon"
I understood it as "Knowledge is power, France is Bacon".
For more than a decade I wondered over the meaning of the second part and what was the surreal linkage between the two? If I said the quote to someone, "Knowledge is power, France is Bacon" they nodded knowingly. Or someone might say, "Knowledge is power" and I'd finish the quote "France is Bacon" and they wouldn't look at me like I'd said something very odd but thoughtfully agree. I did ask a teacher what did "Knowledge is power, France is bacon" mean and got a full 10 minute explanation of the Knowledge is power bit but nothing on "France is bacon". When I prompted further explanation by saying "France is Bacon?" in a questioning tone I just got a "yes". at 12 I didn't have the confidence to press it further. I just accepted it as something I'd never understand.
It wasn't until years later I saw it written down that the penny dropped.

If you are browsing a very long thread on PH you can enter any page number you want into the box and jump straight to it.

That the pistonheads threads "life has been draining lately" and the "cianide and happiness appreciation thread" are quite amusing and not Anything to do with depressed people getting things off their chests!

France is bacon. Made me genuinely laugh out loud.

Oh, another one -
When young, our house used the word 'poh-bot' for a st. Can you possibly image what happen when I stuck my hand up in junior school and asked to go for a 'poh-bot'?
We called them "blops" - looking back on it now: what an excellent word! Diarrhoea was "sick blops". When young, our house used the word 'poh-bot' for a st. Can you possibly image what happen when I stuck my hand up in junior school and asked to go for a 'poh-bot'?
(And whoever said that on page two about tape measures: I never knew that, I just thought I had st ones)
