Heard about a guy who's car broke down. He called the AA for assistance from a phone box and the girl said she would phone him back as to when help would arrive. He waited a while and she phoned back to say help was on the way. Then she said she hadn't written down number of phone box on her form. So the guy says how did you call me then and she said she had dialled his membership no!!

I was once a Canon Product Specialist at a disty. The home number for my Canon rep (minus dialing code) was the same as my mobile number after the 07XXX bit.

Talking to a new guy at work (in the Netherlands!) yesterday, turns out his parents live in the same small town as I was born in. I thought it's a small world and told him which road we were one, and it turns out they're on the same road....at my grandparents old address!
Their house was knocked down after they died and 2 built on the plot, so sadly not the same house

We decide to get the little 'un a Kitten for her Birthday.

We spend months looking and eventually give up deciding it's best if she chooses her own.

We go out for the day and tell her she can have a kitten.

We return home to find a very young cat sat on our doorstep ( we have never seen it before )

It comes in and makes itself at home.

We contact the owner who tells us the cat is a rescue cat and up for adoption.

The cat never leaves.

We rescued a couple of cats in Greece, on our honeymoon last year (thread elsewhere if of interest)

My wife put Melena on one of the (unseen) cats passports, just a 'that will do' thing. We asked the cats name on being introduced, Melany was the answer.

My late Dad bought me a mountain bike when I was 14 - I chose it from the shop in Barking, Essex. It was an "Ammaco Tequila Sunrise", I liked it because it was billed as having unique paint and I was going to be the first with a MTB with 21 gears in my circle of friends.

Loved that thing, kept it for 5 years and took it to uni with me, although it saw no use as I had a pony and a car for transport there.

Mate in my rugby team was down on his luck and finances and I lent him the bike pretty much indefinitely, and as we left uni I kind of forgot about it, as it was now a 12 year old MTB and had probably passed down through the ranks.

Moved away with my now ex wife, lived away from my uni town for 21 years, moved back to it and made new friends.

The other week, I recieved a letter from a company that finds people that are owed money in probate - got a nice dividend from my Dad's shares (been dead 13 years), it was a full moon that day (Mum always said Dad behaved differently on a full moon) and then...

...you've probably guessed, went to pick up my mate from his house to go the gym. In his garden, property of his stepson's girlfriend's friend who has never been to his house before and was only there for five minutes, my old bike.

The odds are ridiculous and I'm buying this young girl a nice new bike to reclaim ownership of my Tequila Sunrise!

Hehe - she was a rugby pony, used by the three rugby houses that lived in the small village next to campus. She was looked after at the beginning of the week but the weekends could be a struggle. Generally she looked happy.

Not my story to tell strictly speaking but happened to a close friend's family...

Friend's boyfriend is studying for his PhD into conservation of a species in the Caribbean, and after getting a transatlantic flight he is on an "island hopper" flight, small 10ish seater plane. He and I think 6 other passengers are on the plane with the pilot when it crashes shortly after take off, he is the only survivor, and he's in a bad way, doctors finding broken bones days after first admission to hospital, multiple surgeries, unbelievably lucky to be alive.

Fast forward a couple weeks and friend's mum is at work talking to a colleague who is about to take some annual leave. "Going anywhere nice?" "yes, but unfortunately not under nice circumstances, I'm going to the Caribbean for a family funeral"... she continues "They were travelling on a small plane, only 7 or 8 people on board, that crashed shortly after take off, as far as we know there was only one survivor, a young man from the UK who was over there studying".

Bit of miscommunication about the exact location, turns out his parents are actually living in the house my grandfather built in the 1940's and both my uncles and my sister were born it. They've also found a barometer in the loft with a plaque on it saying it was a gift to my grandfather, and had been trying to track down someone from the family to see if they want it back!

Nothing carnal I can assure you! Village was more of a town really, had a church and a Co-Op. Very large student population, we had two of the rugby houses back to back and took a fence panel out for easy access.

We used to take Margery Jourdemayne when travelling to the third house which was about half a mile away up a hill. Bit of a workhorse (excuse the pun), she became one of the gang very early on, even coming to St. Paddy's day pissups, got a lot of attention from the girls!

Just basic transport and a friend really. I miss MJ.

You keep prefacing words with 'rugby' like it's normal. What is a rugby pony and what is a rugby house?

A rugby pony is a pony used/maintained by rugby players and a rugby house is a house inhabited by rugby players. Sorry I used big words
