I've worn out another pair of Jefferies... I had a pair re-soled by them before and they came back as good as new. I like these better so going to drop them off today to see what they can do.

Can they fix the leather on the toe? Wondering if these are actually just a write off now.

Might buy another pair to wear while these are in for repair. I found my first pair were half a size too big, once worn in. When new these felt tight but once worn in are about right. So now i've dialled in the size need a new pair right??
You've given them some use, haven't you. How are you so hard on your footwear?

What do you guys use for making your outsoles look good? Polish only does so much. When I have my shoes repaired I think they use some sort of dark resin, but I imagine there is something available for home use right?

Well, I have two pairs of work shoes but these have been used almost daily, all weathers. They've seen action in Indian and Chinese foundries and machine shops (though i figured the oil would be good for the soles!!)

Although i've got the right cleaning gear i'm a bit slack with maintenance.

Had these since May 2016.

Blue ones are from 2013... re-soled once, but 1/2 size too big which is annoying.

Spooky. I was going to quip, "do you operate a blast furnace or something?". I was close wasn't I!

Those JW boots are knackered. The refurb scheme will not fix that. You need to be using boot trees too they are so badly out of shape

Do you think it's possible they are out of shape because they are too big?

Eta: They took them in for a refurb, so we'll see what comes back!

No offence to the OP, but that's the downside of JW ridiculously pointy clown-length toes is that you tt them on everything, i imagine. Probably catch the trailing leg on stair risers too, hence the upper scrape. The stitching coming apart is just st workmanship, which for £200 or whatever I would not expect at all. The crumpling is through not using a shoe tree and some kind of moisturising cream. If JW were a proper show manufacturer they'd have a service programme, where you send them in, they refresh and repair them as good as they can and send them back. Not sure you can make those look decent enough through DIY alone, they need dismantling.

No he didn’t? He said he was going to drop them off, and then said he was going to replace them. If you read what he said...

Aren't Hunters a bit st themselves nowadays?

I had a pair of Hunters that were 35 years old and still waterproof but with a broken side strap, so I bought a new pair. They looked the same but lasted 18 months or so.

Mine are about 13 years old, mind you, I haven't worn them for about 4 years. They might have bred in the cellar by now and it's full of little Crocs.

Needed some Autumn / winter waterproof trainers.

My summer trainers are the least water resistant things known to man and also have almost completely smooth soles which means plenty of aquaplaning moments when its wet.
