Pele said it was Georgie Best, but I always thought that it was him with GB pretty close behind.

I am just too young to have see Pele at his prime. My first World Cup memories are from 1974, and I think Pele was the best.

I think he is possibly one of the only players whose reputation continued so strongly after the boots stopped kicking.

Will Messi be the GOAT in ten years time when there is a new kid on the block? I don't thik he will, but I know that Pele will.

RIP

Pele was head and shoulders above everyone of his time with no question. Today you can discuss the best footballer for days and not agree

For me there are only two contenders and only ever will be two contenders for the best footballer ever.
Pele and Cruyff, for me i'd go with Cruyff purely for being the only player to have a move named after him and for pioneering total football but it's subjective and Pele was before my time slightly whereas i saw Cruyff play on tv.

Either way, RIP Edson Arantes de Nascimento

I know, it's sad, sad that people can talk about football, for days.

Try to remember this.

"Does it need to be said? Does it need to be said now? Does it need to be said now, by me?"

Hopefully, in future, it will hold you in good stead.
