Barclays “pride” logo on phone app.
Discussion
I wonder if certain people moaning on here about Barclays and the like thrusting their views onto them are the same people who shout ‘snowflakes’ to all and sundry who don’t agree with them on stuff they are passionate about.
Besides, the app belongs to Barclays and they can do what they like. Don’t like it? Leave.

I work for a large company. In recent years they have put a lot of emphasis on diversity and inclusivity.
It always seemed a bit unnecessary to me, as the company and its employees was already very apparently tolerant, accepting of others and has a mixture of genders, races, sexual orientation, religions etc. in positions of responsibility and as team members.
Having read some of the ridiculous comments on here I am now pleased that my company has gone down that road.

I may be wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me too much if they also held reactionary views about politics, EU, climate, the poor etc. MC Bodge said:

Can you imagine if Twitter had a campaign supporting say the Conservative party and changed their logo temporarily to a blue and white tree instead of a bird? How would people who have no agenda or link to the Conservative Party feel about that...?
One is a political party the other is saying everyone should be treated equally regardless of their sexuality. Edited by J2daG1990 on Thursday 27th June 18:55
The fact that you and others have equated the two A few times now, shows you think this is some kind of political movement you are against.
Unfortunately, it looks like more companies need to be doing this as there’s much more work to be done.
As usually it’s the bigots that are annoyed by it that actually need it the most.

If he were a powerfully built company director travelling regularly to the Arabian Gulf, or Africa, then yeah, he'd be right to be upset. The wrong person seeing that on your screen could be a very unfunny story. El stovey said:

In the case of LGBT rights and acceptance, I am still unsure as to why they (and religious groups, possibly ones that they don't like, despite their common position) are so concerned by what other people are doing. You think being gay is against basic biology, but you don't have the courage to say it?
It is not for themselves, it is for anyone.
No no, this is where it has all gone off on a tangent because I mentioned the word normal and it got jumped on... is it really a horrific view to look at any animal on the whole and accept that a female gives birth to a child and cannot conceive a child without a man? without the majority doing exactly this we would be extinct hence the use of the word normal and the comment re biology. At no point did I ever say I thought there was anything wrong with gay people or even people who deliberately don’t have children. It is not for themselves, it is for anyone.
To put it in simple terms, the thing that the majority of people do is couple up with someone from the opposite sex and have children. What the majority do is the norm and it’s not offensive to say that imo.
I know the whole LGBTGTi+ brand (It’s been turned into a brand, let’s be honest) is all the rage at the moment and it’s a fashionable bandwagon to jump on etc. But if they’re going to change the icon to one particular brand during a certain calendar event, surely they should do it for all? Like a Poppy for Armistice day etc? I mean I know that’s not so trendy, but the point still stands.

If he were, and for any reason he though that the ‘wrong person’ might see it and get upset then I’d hope he had the nuance to put the fking app in a fking folder and hide it the fk away.
That may not be enough. Most of the world isn't a cuddly place, much as we may all wish to live and let live. As an example of intrusive searches please read https://theintercept.com/2019/06/22/cbp-border-sea...And don't bother to point out this story doesn't take place in the Middle East. Instead consider being in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong coloured app on your screen.
