We turned the heating on over the last weekend. The temp inside dropped to 23 degrees which is apparently “freezing “
Mrs M3ax has assumed her winter position from which she will emerge next spring.
That's a heckuva chrysalis.

ATB! : D

Bad form.

I believe we all forgot to remember and mention that it was the Equinox yesterday, with the Equilux tomorrow.

If you go to Padstow at any point try the lemon meringue pie at Cherry Trees Café on the harbour front. It's sublime.
We are Padstow bound, or meant to be until the misses tested positive. Thanks for the tip as we may still go down later in the week if she feels up to the journey.

I hate the autumn equinox, I think it's my least favourite day of the year, meteorologically speaking. I really don't like that it marks six months of having more darkness than light.

Yes, and the last Sunday in March is the best day of the year.

Still 27c in Colorado. Tired of it.

No one wants to be reminded it's the equinox/equilux in autumn, only in spring hehe

Our draughty poorly uninsulated cottage in Aberdeenshire is generally kept at around 15c with the exception of the main living area which gets comfortably warm thanks to the woodburner.

I really struggle when we go to stay with friends in stuffy new builds - one set of friends had the thermostat set permanently at 24 degrees and were still moping around under blankets. I was in beachwear and still melting. No wonder some folk have outrageous energy bills!
eek

Our new build is set to 19!

While it has snowed in the Cairngorms, it really wasn't a lot - so I haven't started the winter thread.

Weather for tomorrow - minging. A proper Atlantic low pressure system, wet and windy. Slightly warmer than we've experienced this week.

Indeed:

That was three days ago, before it started raining.
Scraping ice off the windscreen the other morning too.

29c today. So naturally it's going to rain the following five days.

And still be 20c in October.

I'm sat outside now (20c, overcast, light breeze) and it's finally a bit autumnal.

I walked to the mailbox yesterday and there were crickets jumping off the path as they felt me coming.
I can still hear them today.

I'm pretty sure this is the last day of summer (high of 24c as I mowed) as the forecast is now slowly dropping for the next ten days; nothing forecast above 19c.

Thank God. I love Colorado, but summer and winter both being at least five months long doesn't leave much time for anything else.

Never mind Wednesday, the chimney is fairly whistling tonight here in Aberdeenshire - first properly strong winds since the big storm last winter so expecting a few trees down in the morning.

We’re lucky to get past Halloween without it , no $10 for you .

All very still down here in the night. The night time temps are well up and in double figures tonight. Lobbing a lazy log on the burner to keep it ticking over, but it's almost too warm all of a sudden.
Lots of rain on the way if the forecast is correct. Bring it on you bds, I want the work on the house to be tested.
I want the chance at least to sit here, be smug and have the possibility of being dry for a change.
