Snow on the Aberdeenshire hills over the last few days with a widespread frost locally each night - minus 5 was the lowest I seen reported (at Gairnshiel Lodge).

The other thread can't be far away!

My wife said, when can we have the heating on. I said it is on but it's not cold enough for the thermostat to click it on.

Sat outside for lunch today. Still feels mild Autumnal

And it's warm! I walked to get coffee in a downpour this morning (I'm just north of Winchester) and my winter weight Barbour jacket was waaayyyy too insulated.

Yep.

Central Baff; 18mm of rain so far today* and - at 9.05pm, holding a solid 15degC outside as measured right here.

Hmm...
It's the end of October now; so 5/6 of year done. Yet today's rain has only taken us to 400mm locally this year so far, vs usu (c. over a decade) average of ~680mm ish of rain.

We bloody need this!

Heavy rain forecast for most of the day here, took a risk and went to work outside.
Had no rain whatsoever rolleyes
Hoping they've got it right for a change tomorrow as a lovely sunny day is forecast.

I'm seeing a lot of people in the lowlands wishing for rain there. I'm no expert, but if it falls there it's only of use to your soil at that time.
What you need to be wishing for is some rain higher up, because that's where your tap supply comes from.

Apparently there is a thunder weather warning in place for most of England.

And it could get a bit wet.

Thunder and lightning down here on the south coast. Tops of the weather quite high which is usually a good indicator that it’s going to be a bit more than some light drizzle.

Just drove home from work in it. Biblical is the only description I can give. Probably the heaviest rain I've driven in ever!

Chesterfield'ish - Lashing it down.

Rather annoyed, I really wanted to do some external work on the house.

Pickering, Yorkshire. (So far north for me that I have a nosebleed) rain just beginning. Apparently, it will last for five hours.

Up here they STILL have a hosepipe ban!!!!
