The wet and windy, with occasional snow, 2022/2023 thread
Discussion
I have to say I have embraced the rain despite the lack of opportunities to get out simply because I remembered just how bone dry winter and early spring were. Without all the recent wet falling from the sky there would be very early and high chances of drought and water shortages again.

I embraced the other day on the dog walk with a coat and waterproof walking shoes but I've just been caught out today with normal clothes and am absolutely soaked nowMcGee_22 said:

Agreed. I’d rather it be wet now rather than at the height of summer when I would be grumpy at the rain.JakeT said:

Glencoe. Just found out the Jacobite train/Hogwarts Express is booked until June. Wish I hadn't mentioned it to the kids now! ![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
Hah! You can go up glencoe ski resort, the sledging slope is open with their snow machine and it’s great fun, as is the trip up the open chair (wrap up)![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
Sadly IceFactor climbing centre in Kinlochleven has shut down
We went to the glenfinnan viaduct in January as I hadn’t been - just the walk up the hill above it is wonderful (it’s all signed), easy walk the kids will love. A bit muddy at the bottom, but it was crawling with Japanese tourist even on Jan4!
Nevis range is brilliant because it’s full of easy - hard mountain bike trails. 20 quid a bike for half a day, really great bikes, again we had a lot of fun - 10 year old son declared it best thing ever!

Don’t worry, they’ve planned for it but yes - pretty short season this year unfortunately!!
The food in glencoe gathering is good - we normally stay at the isles of glencoe hotel (as it has a pool) but the food is pretty poor. Keep meaning to try the seafood restaurant in the Ballachulish hotel
The Laroch in Ballahulish isn’t great. Better to drive up to fort William for a bit of choice, but I always find the place a bit grim! It’s got a small climbing wall in and old church
