Yep, sounds entirely plausible... well the book part does anyway

Imagine!! All these Tibetan and buddhist idiots spend millenia meditating on and contemplating these matters and they come up with THAT load of twaddle! They really should give their heads a wobble!!
Someone should give them a wake-up call and email them a link to this thread! That would enlighten them, eh??

Do you believe that book should be taken as being literally true?https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tibetan-Book-Dead-Complet...

I know I am going to get ripped for this but all true so here goes.
My late dad was a clock/watchmaker and jeweller.
When we came back from the funeral the grandfather clock in my moms house which my dad had hand made had stopped at what would have been the time of his cremation.
I didn’t think much of it as coincidences happen and none of the family were superstitious or paranormal etc believers.
Anyway we tried rewinding it and re setting the pendulum etc but could not get it going.
I took the mechanism to another fellow clock/watchmaker who stripped it down and did a full service/rebuild as the clock was about 10 years old.
The clockmaker said it was in superb condition and beautifully built but no matter what he did he could not get it to run.
He took it another acquaintance in the jewellery quarter of Birmingham and again could not get it to run. Two further clockmakers tried (These guys are fellows of the British Horological Society so they know their stuff) and failed.
We were all mystified.
I fitted the mechanism back in the case and left it there in my mom’s house for seven years. My mom found it funny.
Mom passed away a couple years later.
We were back at my moms house following the cremation, once everyone had left apart from my brother, our wives and myself we stood in the living room and raised a drink to mom.
Just as we raised our glasses the clock that had not worked for 9 years chimed the hour.
It hasn’t missed a beat since.
I cannot explain it.

True story...
During the the Apollo 11 moon landing, the guy who's job it was to monitor the fuel used a stopwatch to call out the time left before the fuel would be exhausted. The Eagle landed on the moon with 18 seconds of fuel remaining, and the guy left the stopwatch in that position. He took it home and kept it n a locked drawer, before later deciding to donate it to the Smithsonian.
Some time later, when he went to retrieve the stopwatch from his desk, he found that the second hand had reverted to zero, rather than being on the 18 seconds as he had left it. Clearly this was the ghost of a past astronaut making some mischief. Or, even more likely, that an alternate universe where Apollo 11 had crashed when the fuel ran out had overlapped with our own and he now had their stopwatch
the bloke did say years later that his daughter had been using the stopwatch to time her dance routines, but only those with completely closed minds would believe that.
But who knows? Truly who knows?

Ok. So around 7 years ago I was doing a road trip around Iceland - a brilliant drive as one road circles the whole island. On one of our last days the hotel we were staying in told us that whales had been spotted in the next bay along - obviously excited we jumped in the car and whizzed round. There wasn’t anywhere perfect to park so kinda just left the car (it was an extremely quiet place) - and ran over the various small stone hills to go and see the whales.
When we were returning to the car we got to the top of one of the mounds and there was a guy in old oil skin fishing gear by the car which was about 200m from us. I said to my partner “typical, the first person we’ve seen in 2 days and my cars in the way” - she totally saw him too. We decided to go more quickly so went down one side of the mound (losing sight of the car) and up the next one - but when we got to the top of that one the guy had totally vanished. We got to the car and looked everywhere for him, there was a derelict church structure that we fully looked round, even under the car. The guy was totally gone. There’s zero possibility of him going anywhere else.
I didn’t believe in ghosts before that - and even now I’m unsure. But we both saw something that totally can’t be explained. I later found out there was a ship wreck just off that beach. I’ll try and find out where we were.

So toursits see local, local wanders off somewhere, tourist who doesn't know area doesn't see him again.
Ergo a ghost? Or a bloke that knows where he is and just wandered off home??
So, Petrus is just leaving out the bit of the story where there was a house 10yards from the car that the fisherman could have feasibly entered in the time they couldn't see the car..is that what you are suggesting?Ergo a ghost? Or a bloke that knows where he is and just wandered off home??

This is the story I found at the time. I’ve gone through booking.com but the booking history doesn’t go back that far. I’m saying it was literally deserted - will still try and work out where it was.

Again, another (predictably dull) attempt at a piss-take of what is an interesting account.During the the Apollo 11 moon landing, the guy who's job it was to monitor the fuel used a stopwatch to call out the time left before the fuel would be exhausted. The poster even said that he can't explain it, and there was no mention of the 'g' word.

Don't the Icelanders have bunkers where they store fish for months, rotting shark is a delicacy. Cut into the Earth, he could have popped down there?
