Vinegar is the usual remedy I think but I tried it once and didn't see any difference. Well I did, but when they got wet again it was back.

Gents,

Any tips for rescuing/renovating water damaged shoes? My aircon leaked condensate over a pair of tan brogues, the die has leached and the shoes are stained/tide marked.

Can I do this at home or easier to take to the cobbler?
As above, white vinegar may work/help, though usually recommended for removing road salt before cleaning with soap and water.

Another alternative, which may depend somewhat on the value you place on your shoes, is the Jaunty Flaneur located at 1st Floor, 13 Savile Row (Sharing shop space with tailors Cad & the Dandy).

They are expert on shoe finishing and recolouring. They will soon tell you what, if anything, can be done.

A trip to Jermyn Street today resulted in no purchases I’m afraid but thoughts turned to Goaty Bill when I saw these beauties in Barkers

I love the Jeffrey West style but alas they are too narrow for me but there shop in Burlington Arcade is worth a visit

I haven't worn Fred West shoes since the 90s. I didn't find them super comfortable.

I gather from someone in the trade that they are very often bought by the older gent these days.

Fred Wests hehe

Most of those in the window look to be made from that nasty polished binder (plasticy) leather which is much stiffer than regular calf and tends to split as it ages.

I have three pairs of Westies and the tops are fine.
The soles always wear out on mine.
