When you look at the comparison between herbivores and humans, we compare much more closely to herbivores than meat eating animals. Humans are clearly not designed to digest and ingest meat. Herbivores: have intestinal tract 10-12 times their body length

Well that lasted about as many posts as I expected it to.

But the main point here is to meet and discuss vegetarianism and vegan-ism with like minded folk are you out there?
So why not go on a vegan site then?

I am sorry if this comes over as a bit aggressive, I don't mean to be. It's not my site and people are free to discuss whatever they want. I do think, however, that this motoring site would be an awful lot better if before people were allowed to start agenda drive threads in the lounge they had to make 50 posts in any of the motoring sections of the site. Always strikes me as odd when someone joins, waits a couple of months before making a post, starts a thread, and then throws up links to third rate propaganda and pseudo-scientific crap.
Hey I started this post and you joined me ? and "Well I Think I Will Turn Vegan!" was my tag line! just a bit of fun to see what people think nothing aggressive in that, just a grown up conversation for grown ups to contribute. Nothing offensive just informative or not. I am no preacher or fundamentalist each to their own I am new to the meat free lifestyle it may last it may not ! BTW this is on the Health part of the gassing station try the motoring bit.

How can you promote veganism and sell dead animals for personal profit?
No! there alive when I sell them in a bag of water to the aquatic trade as feeder shrimp for predatory fish all natural I don't kill them the fish do!

Dont get the vegetarian haters, personal choice just like eating meat is...been vegetarian for 16 years, dont shout it from the rooftops, plenty of people I have dined out with dont know I am a vegetarian or need to know.

Plenty of elite althletes are vegetarian and I know a few of the MMA stars are on raw food diets without meat, fish or dairy so meat isnt needed to be "big and strong".
I think that most people either on PH or in general don't have a problem with veggies - what people do have a problem with is the interjection of the "oh I'm a vegetarian" kind in general conversation swiftly followed by an attempt to 'sell' the benefits of an animal free diet. Why do they do it? If we're all set to go somewhere to eat or someone is coming over to dinner then by all means it's a very valid thing to mention otherwise just STFU.

It strikes me from your post that you are exactly the sort of veggie we'd like to bump into - that is to say not mentioning diet until the subject of food is brought up or relevant.

As for the nauseating OP "...my precious daughter..." oh please! Pass the blinking sick bucket

'A grilled chicken thigh is just 135 calories but that shoots up to 290 calories when it is fried by one of the fast food outlets, with another 300 calories if you add fries. That is where all the damage is done'.
So it's vegetable oil and potatoes that do the damage wink
No, it's the whole bloody lot does the damage. Add a load of nice tasty fat and a portion of chips and you get fatter. No kidding. Eat more, get fat. No really? Who knew? They'll be telling me next that if I follow it up with a bowl of ice cream that's got calories in it too!
You can eat as much as you like as long as you do 4 HIT exercises per week (No Bullst Honest smile)

The issue is that a lot of people, eating specific diets, are very preachy about it and try to change the mind of others.
Indeed - there are a fair number of people who have posted just to say that they eat meat, or have just eaten a sausage roll or something. These 'look at me' type posts are a bit preachy, aren't they.
I Started this topic just to see what people think about vegans and vegetarianism with may be a tag line that some may see as preaching (I don't) as I said I watch a couple of films, maybe dramatised who knows but one thing for certain if anyone watched the whole film? the filming of animals being slaughtered alive sickened me now I am certainty no liberal left wing far from it, but I have had animals all my life and watching that incensed me and this made me think! so I have made a choice for my self not others that up to you lot but I was ignorant to what really goes on and this film opened my eyes to it. I have no problem with meat eaters I will probably succumb my self occasionally ( after a few ales) but have a look at what's going on that's all smile anyway of to the butchers sorry DENTISE

You have also posted a lot of bks about it, as is traditional with vegans. There is also about 3500 calories in 100g of rape seed oil. For the record, as an omnivore, I eat up to around 3500 calories a day, weigh just over 9 stone and have a Parkrun PB of 17:54.

Exactly what did you expect to happen in a slaughter house? Have you any idea where any of your food comes from, animal or vegetable?

How many farm animals do you think there would be if nobody ate them? I'll give you a clue, NONE. There would be no sheep, no lambs, no cows, no calves, no pigs, no geese, no chickens. Nothing.
Oo00o willy nilly you are quite bhy and quite tiresome to! smile
