EJ's is definitely a wig, he suffered from Alopecia as a result of an accident(total baldness). I dont believe he makes any secret of it and have heard Jake and DC ribbing him about it before.

I have a friend who has total Alopecia (like not even eyelashes) and for years he was totally bald but has recently started wearing a syrup. I think it looks marginally better, personally.

I think it's probably a personal choice thing.
