I picked a mop up from auction last week for 40p. It was tired and needed work. Managed to get a new head fitted for 79p. Sold it the other day for £4.00. There's money in this game!
I bought one similar, but this one required a replacement handle too. Tell you what, was good as new afterwards! Nearly made my investment back!

I got one. It was in a real state. Mop AND handle were both broken before repair. Only had to pay £1.

£3 later (new mop head and handle) and it's as good as new. I think I can sell it for at least £3.50.

You are all being robbed blind you realise? You can go to Poundland and pay £1 for a mop. Brand new, no refurb required.

I tried to sell my old mop to those robbers at webuyanymop, do you know they offered me a price which was lower than I could sell it privately for?!

I tried trading it in against a new mop, they'd got a similar mop for sale for £10, do you know they had the cheek to offer me £8 for mine? I was expecting £11 for mine because mine is mint (innit).

I used to do this, but not any more. Oh no sir, its a young mans game is the mop trade.

I don't know why anyone would bother to be honest. Once you've found a good source of used mops, had them serviced and valeted to the nines there isn't that much in them. Remember the huge overheads you'll be covering, it isn't just as simple as buying low and selling high.

Whatever you do don't get me started on these massive mop supermarkets that keep popping up either, no service, untrained sales people, terrible places. My mate called me the other day saying he'd walked away on a deal on a 3 year old Vileda becuase all the salesman was interested in was flogging the shaft protection film and a hook to hang it on to protect the cleaning surfaces.

Re-mopped. I added an air filter as well which gives make it clean at least 30% more.

The people are W-BAM! are shysters.

I went to a branded mop dealer to trade my old mop in, but they would only give me £15.00 for a £26.00 mop. I called up W-BAM! who said they would give me £24.50. When they inspected it though, they knocked it down to £12.00 because it needed a new head? It's not a bloody Rover you know!

I've tried breeding mops. But the female ones are too stick-thin for me. frown

If you sell less than 6 mops per year you're not counted as a mop trader and don't have to register as such.
That's just not true.
It's one of those stupid urban myths that keeps coming up.

Under 6 mops isn't classes as trading.
You only need to warranty the handle not the head.
Fitting a vileda head to a MrMuscle body is illegal.

It's all nonsense and I wish people would stop posting such rubbish.
Wrong, you need to register with the Guild of Master Mop Sellers. Also if you are thinking of repairing mops can't call yourself a Mop Engineer unless you have a degree.

I have family in the trade, and I used to get the odd part ex from them that they had taken in that was either too old or too worn for their forecourt.

I used to clean them up and move them on through the usual sites; eBay, MopTrader, etc, but don't do it now as peoples expectations from a used mop is not what it used to be. With the internet, everyone's an expert on mops and they all want a brand new one for used money, nothing but hassle so I don't really bother with it now.

Every now and then, I might, but only if its a special mop, something rare or limited edition, but not the run of the mill everyday mops, too many people doing it now!
