I took part in the Combe Martin Wheelbarrow race for several years
You had to push your partner in said wheelbarrow the length of the village (about 2 miles) as fast as possible, stopping at each of the 9 pubs along the way for a half-pint of the cheapest crap bitter they could dredge up.
The finish involved going down a flight of steps onto the beach and running into the sea. Fancy dress was compulsory.
It still happens but they got rid of the beer element due a few incident of high-speed barrows colliding with cars.

I used to live in Horninghold as a lad, the bottle kicking in Hallaton was crazy, each year there were several bad injuries. It's an event that's got out of hand and I never understood why anyone would be stupid enough to take part.
Just stay in the Bewicke and booze while all the idiots injure themselves.

Ah you beat me to it. It's basically a massive pub crawl as they dance from pub to pub. Best thing is to follow them round - how they can dance by the end is beyond me cos they must be pretty mullered.Village local to me has an annual beer race. Contestants run round the village drinking a half pint of beer at each pub. Quite amusing.

I used to live down the road from Atherstone in Warwickshire. Every year they have what is essentially a big fight over a ball in the highstreet.

My local village do a beer keg barrel roll race.
Team of two roll an aluminum beer keg from one end of the village to the other. Sounds easy but the bloody thing won't go in a straight line! Go to fast and it bounces around and heads off at sharp directions.
My brother and I won one year but that was 10 years ago and he was/is a triathlete and I used to run 5 miles a couple of times a week.
If I did it now I'd put my back out bending down at the start.
