Seems to me that delivery guys are just extremely busy these days.
We where waiting for the package from the parents, as they sent some Christmas presents for the little one.
It came back to them with the note that we refused to take the parcel. Why did that happened is a huge mystery for us.
Almost certainly they didn't bother.

Much easier to claim the recipient refused delivery.

Had it with others before, "attempted delivery, no answer, signature required"... While I was in and the CCTV camera confirmed they didn't even attempt it.

They then dropped it off the next day (while I was out), leaving it in the porch!

DPD do seem to be having a bad time at the moment. We trialled them between aug and sept and they missed 10 collections in 8 weeks, ended up going back to Royal Mail.

Who are missing a lot more than 10 collections today. They're on strike.

They do seem to have gone of a cliff. USed to be super reliable but in the past week they've been 2 days late on delivering something with no justification and something else they've said they've delivered it but they haven't and are proving an utter pain to engage with beyond "computer says we've delivered it".

I suspect like many things it depends where you are. I’m south coast and DPD are like clockwork in their electric van we have 2 different drivers one who likes to beat the door down with his fist but always super polite so I’ll let him carry on. Although if they say they’re delivering in 2 days time it will always be 1 so not sure if that’s a computer glitch.

UPS used to be annoying just giving you a day of delivery but the last few deliveries they’ve given a 2-3hr window which is handy but again delivered a day early this week compared to what they said.

And then you have Yodel and whistl, yodel just dump stuff on your doorstep and walk off. And my current parcel with whistl has been sat at their depot for 2 days and not moved rolleyes

I contacted DPD this morning to ask what was going on. It’s all become a bit Kafkaesque as they can’t do anything until I’m given my delivery slot and by then it’s too late to change it. All I can do is request delivery to a neighbour!

On the app you can see where the driver is at any given time. He was in my village at least twice yesterday. I was tempted to go out in the car and hunt him down.

I then got onto the sender, Tiffany, and explained DPD did not seem able to deliver the item I’d bought. The operator helpfully went off to contact DPD who told her the reason for non-delivery was because the driver’s GPS could not find my address, which is a load of rubbish. Anyway, not to worry because Tiffany have asked DPD to move the delivery to tomorrow! Like I said, Kafkaesque.

This is for a Christmas present so I can afford to give them a few more days, but what a carry on. Meanwhile, I had something via UPS and even the striking Royal Mail this morning.

My "regular" DPD driver is pretty good and has dropped things earlier than the "scheduled" time because he's literally been delivering something up our road...yet his schedule has him driving miles away and then returning later. He said it's utterly stupid.

Surely they could save a fortune by being more efficient.

No need to have a go at the jewellers, just ask them to get in touch with DPD from their end.

Wonder by taking on work that would of been royal mails they can't actually cope with the volume ?

Going to be a interesting december , normally the other companies offload what they can't handle on royal mail but obviously that's not a option at the moment .

Royal Mail are back tomorrow but it’s going to be bedlam. They haven’t cleared the backlog from last week’s strikes and now here comes a whole new one.

I treat DPD as about as reliable as Yodel now. Which is a shame, they were the only ones I used to trust! Paid more for next day delivery, and it’s 2 days late. I only did that as I knew about the RM strikes and was afraid that standard delivery would go via them and be very much delayed.

I know i'm a postie .

the mail centers are grid locked , there's to much to fit on the lorries available going out and there's nowhere to unload the lorries coming in and too that royal mail have cancelled the posties sunday overtime so you have entire shifts manned by casual staff who don't know the sorting .

I think I’ll be giving Royal Mail services a wide berth for the rest of the year by the sound of that.

I do hope the same driver hasn't been at it for 14.5 hours.
That’s not at all unusual.

My usual working day starts at 06:00 when I leave the house, and on a busy day, (pretty much every day throughout October to mid January), I’ll be doing my last delivery nearing 22:00.

That’s seven days a week, (my last day off was 19th September, next day off Christmas Day & Boxing Day). There’s no breaks save the odd two minutes for a quick cigarette and my lunch often gets thrown in the bin when I get back home at 23:00.

A 14.5 hour day is actually a pretty quiet day for a busy driver with multiple rounds who’s wanting to earn decent money from the job.

Who are you delivering for? The DPD guy seems to stop about 7:30pm, not that I’d really want deliveries rocking up at 10pm.

My parcel, allegedly rebooked for delivery today, is still showing as being at their depot. I’m on hold for DPD now and if I get no joy I’ll be back on to Tiffany as the amount of time I’m having to spend chasing this has now become ridiculous.

Which is fair enough apart from when the other companies take on more than they can handle they send it on via us.

I wouldn't expect to see it today... I had a parcel go AWOL a couple of weeks ago... It was apparently "left with a neighbour" 25 doors away (further than it sounds, as there are a series of cul-de-sacs) I got there, he had a parcel, but it wasn't mine!

Got on to DPD - my parcel was still on the van, but the driver couldn't do anything, it had to go back to the depot to be re-consigned. Next day, I eventually get a new active parcel - sat in the depot until gone 2PM - at just before 6PM the tracking had changed to "we'll be back tomorrow". Spoke to the retailer, they got the delivery upgraded to pre-12 for the next day, it eventually arrived at about 11:50...

The only useful thing I did learn from the experience is that the email address elite@dpd.com goes to team of people who seem to know what they are doing...

I was due a laptop delivery via DHL today, of course they tried to deliver it in the ten minutes I was out this morning. They have apparently left it at a local shop, I tried to collect it but I require a collection code.

I have requested this multiple times via the link but nothing. I then phoned DHL who have requested the code be sent to my email, but apparently this could take 24 to 48 hours.

Honestly I despair, the previous delivery I had via Yodel was left on the porch of the incorrect house.

Puts me off ordering anything expensive to be honest.

Back on to DPD via chat and now they say it won’t be delivered today and they can’t say when it will be even out for delivery.

Called Tiffany and told them that while I appreciate this is not their fault, if they can’t actually deliver the item I paid for last Sunday they are the ones who are going to be carrying the can and they’re going to have to refund it.

They asked for one last chance to sort it out, went away to have a word with DPD and they, Tiffany, now say that it will be delivered tomorrow. I have my doubts as that is exactly what they said yesterday but we’ll see.

Funnily enough, I had a DPD delivery due today, then it was going to be late, now it's tomorrow but if recent deliveries are anythng to go by, it won't be here until sometime next week.
DPD do seem to be the worst of the lot, at least they're consistent(ly bad).
