So the week long sale has started on Amazon today. I'm after some LED downlighters, I'm pretty sure they are GU10 but I'll check tonight. Also up for getting some Christmas shopping done for a bit cheaper hehe

I was holding off on upgrading my echo dots to the new 3rd gen model and now the price has dropped (£35 inc smart plug), I have bought a few for me and Christmas gifts. The old ones will be donated to relatives.

That's all I'm going to look at as I'm Hue'd up to the max and the strip lights aren't in the sale.

I'm boycotting Amazon this year due to their choice of christmas advert, still over a month to go and it's doing my head in.

I doubt there will be much in the Black Friday sale, a few years back there were bargains to be had as stock was cleared out but not anymore.

I’ve never shopped in Black Friday so after some advice please.

Amazon already have the Alexa and echo dots on sale at £54.99 and £24.99 respectively.
Will they be magically any cheaper next Friday or is this a good price for them?

I very much doubt they would drop further. That's the cheapest they've ever been.

Camel camel camel is worth signing up to if you want to track price drops and get an alert. It also tells you the price history.

I think they have a review In 'which' this month that looked into black Fridays over the last few years in both UK and America. I think the result was that the price is cheaper at various times through the year than at Black Friday.

I would second camelcamelcamel

^ Is the correct answer. It will be the usual lemming train of chavs camping outside Tesco Extra stores 3 days in advance so that they can be the first through the doors to fight with all the other chavs over 60 inch Technika tellies that Tesco would have reduced anyway because everyone else knows they're st and get left on the shelves. rolleyes
That doesn't happen any more does it? I remember seeing a film crew outside a shopping centre last year when the doors opened and it was just over guy after a cheap TV...

I bought 40 GU10's from LED Hut recently (around £1.50 each). Excellent service. I have nothing to do with the company but offer my experience as a customer. My downstairs is now as bright as you like!

The new dots are OK but they can't be flush mounted like the gen 2 version. Luckily they are even cheaper!

Echo devices are always on sale on Black Friday (week). They’re the gateway into the amazon multiverse.

People like me get suckered into buying cheap echo spots and a year later we’re amazon’s bh.

I'm looking to buy my mum & dad a surround sound / speaker set-up as a Christmas present for their new house (they're moving in February)

Can anyone recommend a nice setup that you've maybe seen somewhere on the black Friday deals? Thanks!

I'm after a laptop which is fine for daily use, does not have to be a gaming beast. Its only for WFH and utilising the Citrix Server

Anyone seen a decent windows based option?

My go to laptop is the HP 250 available from ebuyer in a myriad of specs. Starts at less than £300 so spec it to what you think you need.

Reasonably well built (not as solid as the EliteBook my current employer gave me but it’s a LOT cheaper), performant (I went for a circa £450 i5 with a decent chunk of RAM and SSD) and just seems a lot better screwed together than the usual Acer/etc stuff you’ll find on offer in Tesco.

Hoping to snag a half decent TV this year. The one we have now is just too small for the room it's in.

Will do my research to make sure it's actually discount and wasn't actually cheaper two months ago (Amazon....).

Any particular places you'd recommend to look? Hoping the huge Currys/PC World near me will have something decent enough.
