I'm with Eric and the OP on this, and think it is rather distasteful to start nominating older celebrities who may not last the year.

However, it has come to my attention that Justin Bieber is 27 next year...........

Can't agree with that - he's got nothing in common (type) with Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison or Jones, all of whom were involved in the making of some fine music.
