Not really no. I suspect "there is" or "there's" will become "correct" for plurals at some point. Languages evolve...

Shirley there's more important things to muse over, e.g. why I think saying shirley in place of
surely isn't pointless, pathetic and unamusing.

"More bad" is clumsy and sounds daft, but as far as I can see it's not actually gramatically incorrect?
Not as bad as putting a question mark at the end of a statement.

The one that I find annoying and weird is when someone writes 'needs replaced'. What is that about?

Surely 'There is' has been replaced by 'There's'?, and not 'There are'?

There're two ways of looking at it.
There is only one way of looking at it, you can't shorten 'there are'.

I suppose the Meercans will have done it, they look at themselves in meers, so will probably have a go at thererrr.

'There is one of them'. Singular.
'There are two of them'. Plural.
there is = there's
there are = there're

Both are still current and valid, it's simply that many people have become lazy about using the correct words.

I think people use there's because there're is very clumsy.

It's not something I've noticed, I think "there are" in full is still widely used, especially spoken rather than written.

But the pronunciation of there are often comes out as there're anyway.

Hmm.

Maybe it's simply that predictive text likes there's.

It’s a Scottish dialect thing.

Well, they should stop it, and speak English like they're supposed to.

Ah, no. To be fair, if it's a real Scottish dialect thing, I can accept that (as I have some dialect quirks of my own).

It doesn't excuse English muppets using it though!! biggrin
