Yes. Same as BJs dad.

Dealing with essential property issues (making sure the pool is clean)

And meeting agents.

Plus a wedding.

So it’s allowed but some serious hurdles are put in the way.

Could you not have gone to an amber country first?

Our sales guy was out in Turkey, he then flew to spain for a few days, then flew back to the UK Quarantine free as he had been jabbed!

I suspect he must have lied a bit on the forms though……..?

Not had any vaccinations so an Amber country is no help.

I’m not gonna lie. It’s a total hassle getting back but it’d be more so going somewhere else to save a few quid.

Cant be bothered

I’m all set

If you’re getting married then presumably you’re quarantining with the new missus when u get back?

In which case you’ll probably be getting a lifetimes worth of nookie squeezed in those ten days? Haha

Use up your whole married-sex quota by day 3.

Ha ha. That’d be nice.

Unfortunately she is flying back to Qatar so I’ll be on my lonesome channeling my inner Alan Partridge in the Linton travel tavern.

Have you considered hiring a lookalike and getting them to carry out your stay on your behalf?

Good idea.

Alas Dwayne Johnson is busy promoting Jungle Cruise and Al Murray is working on new material.

The government have got it sewn up.

There’s zero chance of getting out of it and I’ve tried every angle and then some.

On the plus side I’ll have two good weeks in Kenya, private jet to Nairobi this evening and a 3 day stay at the end on Watamu beach.

What happens if you test positive on day 8?

I'm a pessimist - you'll be all clear I'm sure.

What's the food like, and are they supplying anything over and above the usual hotel room standards?
Two work colleagues had to go to Brazil a month or two back on an urgent Technical Support issue and they had to quarantine on their return. Both said it wasn't too bad and the one who was sent to a Heathrow hotel said the food was quite good. The other was put up in a hotel in Stratford and he sent us pictures of some of his meals.

Looking at them, I'm pretty sure that even our friends' dogs would have refused to eat them! hurl

Unless it has changed, you don't get proper room service in most of the hotels despite the fact you are paying through the nose for a st hole hotel. Many get st microwave meals and thats it.

Have you worn it out yet?

Friend of mine had to do it after working in Dubai. The food was awful. He presented with Covid about half way through his stay and had a pretty rough time of it and had to extend his stay (not sure if he had to pay extra for it).

He is still suffering 6months on.

Good luck!

The guts of £2k to be on house-arrest in stty Novotel at Heathrow for 10 days would really, REALLY stick in my craw.

The circumstances would need to be significant for me to do that, and a wedding isn't it.

If you test positive your stay is extended at extra cost.

Yes, when I said room service, it’s the Novotel LHR, can’t imagine it’s the Four seasons at the best of times so it’ll be a tray at the door I’m sure.

I’m not looking forward to it which is one of the reasons I started this thread to keep me from getting stir crazy.

Its not usually tray at the door with food from the restaurant. its st microwave ste for "minimal contact". Dont even think they are supposed to allow you to get takeaway delivered either.

I've not visited the Novotel at Heathrow, but within the Accor brand, Novotels are towards the top, and I'd expect LHR to be on the better end of the Novotel spectrum.

Congrats on the wedding beer

Shame about the rest but sounds like you’ve got the right attitude for it. You’re allowed to order take aways aren’t you?

There is, quite obviously, more to this than meets the eye.

Private jet to Naitobi
Get married
Three days on beach
Wife goes to Qatar
Husband comes back to quarantine in Heathrow hotel

I think we don't have the full story.

Surely you can divert somewhere nice for 10 days? It's not even about saving money, but I;d rather spend 10 days somewhere in Europe than stuck in a Airport hotel room with st food. 1o days in the Med somewhere or 10 days in the Heathrow Novotel........hmmmm.
