This is the first winter for 15 years that I will have summer tyres left on the car.

Prepare for the annual Daily Express warnings of the impending worst winter since records began to actually be true this year!
It's OK as I've counterbalanced you by putting Michelin CrossClimate2 tyres on the dailies.

These decisions cancels ALL weather.

Yes, very much so, like a switch had been flicked. Leaves and other arboreal debry suddenly prevalent.

Likely to be quite the Atlantic storm on Saturday night - this pleases me, as originally it was forecast on Sunday night, when I'm on a cross-channel ferry.

Just building a greenhouse, I think I'll leave the glass out for the time-being hehe

This MetOffice video is brilliant at explaining the uncertainty caused by hurricanes (and ex-hurricanes) for UK weather at this time of year. Hurricane Sam could cause us to have some great October weather - or pretty rubbish.

Bizarrely, we're hoping it joins the jet stream (and essentially pushes it away from the UK).

Evening Standard Headline today said:
UK weather forecast: Met Office warn snow could freeze Brits in weeks
article text said:
Now the Met Office has warned snow could hit other parts of the UK in weeks after it arrived in Scotland. Icy temperatures are predicted to drop to 10C in Yorkshire as October gets colder. However, the forecaster said it was not “uncommon” to get snow this time of year.

Senior meteorologist at the Met Office Greg Dewhurst told The Mirror: “We’re now entering the time of the year when the change in conditions becomes really noticeable. As we enter October it certainly will get colder. Although snow is not forecast imminently, there is always a real chance in the weeks ahead. It is not uncommon at this time of the year.”
Could someone trace the journey from the interview to the headline please?

'Could' is the key word. It also 'could' hit 20 degrees.

I do recall snow in October at low levels in 2009 - I was driving down the M1 from Mansfield, and when I called in to Brackley to get petrol I had snow all over the front and people were staring at my car!
