Leftfield option ... been using these for walking the dog, comfortable, water proof and lighter than my missus size 6 Vans too.

I swear by Scarpa's. On my third pair now over many years
I'm a big fan of Scarpa and have a pair of their Delta GTX for fell walking which are brilliant and have lasted really wellHowever I purchased a pair of their Cyrus GTX just over a year ago as a knock about dog walker (to do exactly what the OP is seeking) and they have been utter garbage. Seams on both boots split in less that 12 months and the soles 'which are hollow' have worn through, in addition to being lethal in the wet.
I bought from Go Outdoors and they were over £100 but unfortunately I lost the receipt so could not return them. Clue probably in the price as my others were over £200
I would certainly avoid that particular boot from Scarpa

Disgraceful for boots at that price point. They are comfortable though, I'll grant that.

MUCH better and longer lasting than cheap £50 boots...
...worth checking Go Outdoors.MUCH better and longer lasting than cheap £50 boots...
By way of example they have the Merrell Erie mid leather boot for £69 versus £102 at the outlet you linked above. I might just bob down to Penrith tomorrow and buy a pair.
I've liked Innov-8 running shoes for some time but never realised they did boots too. Based on earlier posts I just got some "Black Friday" Roclite G345 GTX V2 mids.
Boy are they light! 360g per shoe compared to my Merrell Moab mids at 517g. Been out for about 90 minutes in them - very comfortable, completely waterproof (for now) and the soles don't pick up gravel and stones like my Merrells and Salomons. Easy to clean, too, and it's pretty muddy here.
Only minor gripe is that the laces are way too long.

However I happened upon these at LD Mountain Centre in Newcastle yesterday which were half price at £107 so grabbed a pair - happy with them and they seem like really good quality:

I must be a bit of an outlier! I got a pair of Gelert hiking boots from Sports Direct and they’ve been superb. Lots of dog walking on mixed forest terrain and hiking in the Tyrol in summers.
I think they were £30.
Bear in mind I look after my kit; the stuff gets regularly cleaned and when necessary reproofed with Nikwax spray, but I can’t really fault them.

I swear by Inov-8s. I have had various pairs over the years, all very lightweight with soles and uppers that last for ages. My last pair of Roclites lasted 4 summers before the lugs started to wear down. These things are lighter than most running shoes. Replaced them like for like
Currently have 2 pairs of Roclite shoes (one gtx, one non-gtx) for lighter duties - meant to be for trail running but are perfect for walking. You feel a lot underfoot though so not great for longer walks or over rocks. For longer, more demanding walks I have a pair of (non-gtx) Rocfly shoes and a pair of goretex Rocfly boots. I can walk all day in these and my feet feel fresh

Never needed anything more heavy duty in all my days of hiking around this country or abroad.
Good god. You couldn’t actually wear them out in public though !!!! I also have a pair of nearly new mid Scarpa's which no longer get worn because I just wear inov8 95% of the time. For proper bad weather I wear my Meindls but they're so heavy after the light stuff.
The only boot I don't own that's been recommended on here is the Solomon. And this is the boot that i would say the vast majority of walkers I see on top of the Fells wear. FWIW this will be the next boot I get.

No love for Alt-Berg?
I got some surplus sneaker boots which are more comfortable than slippers. I know it’s a cliche but I genuinely don’t like having to take them off.
Mine have worn out at least one set of soles and the uppers are still in great condition.

Likewise, dog walks on a daily basis. I have 4 pairs of merrells. Summer and winter across 2 houses. I did have 3 until this last month, a pair that proudly proclaimed waterproof on the side were anything but… even wet grass was leaving me with soaked feet.MUCH better and longer lasting than cheap £50 boots...
I did have a pair of timberland boots but the insides wore out very quickly.
The pair I just bought:

Seem very good, I have the lace up version too and they are actually waterproof.
Do you ever walk in snow at all? I had my first snow underfoot on some tops last week...
I am just a huge fan of going and trying in boots, not going off internet recommendations from people with different shaped feet, different gaits, and different walks.
I enjoy rockier, steeper hills, year round, mainly in Scotland. I've narrowed feet which are now spreading as I approach 50. I've got good socks and overheat easily.
Summer: Brooks trainers or Innov8 boots, winter I've a Pair of Salomon Alp-x (B1 and like slippers) and an old pair of Mammut B2 (comfy most of the day, then suddenly agony...). I usually use spikes, and have flexible crampons for the B2's.

I have a pair of Salewa Crow GTX-they are possibly a bit too heavy for your requirements but I absolutely love them.
Found them on Gumtree for an absolute steal and will definitely buy another pair when they fall apart.
I got a pair of Salewa approach shoes last year and after minimal use they’re falling apart, the rand is coming off, the uppers are starting to hole and the laces lasted about 2 months before having to be replaced. I won’t be rushing to get anything else from them. Found them on Gumtree for an absolute steal and will definitely buy another pair when they fall apart.

If they hadn't rubbed my ankles badly, those would have been my recommendation too.
I've ended up with a pair of Meindl's instead, which although a little more pricey are a good all-rounder.
I’ve had two pairs of these, first ones split across the sole where they flex after 2 months and were replaced under warranty, second pair did the same. They are quite clumpy too, not strong enough for proper mountain boots and too heavy and awkward for everyday dog walking stuff. Was glad to see the back of them. Have worn Salomon for years but the quality of these were very poor for the price. I’ve just bought some La Sportiva boots to replace them and they feel much better, lighter and more precise. Time will tell how well they last. Scarpa are lovely, but a bit too high volume for my dainty feet! I've ended up with a pair of Meindl's instead, which although a little more pricey are a good all-rounder.
