I disagree, I cut my toe nails with my Victorinox Climber.

Too much information?
Nose hairs too are easier with scissors or pliers.

Just be a little cautious of the rules around carrying a knife. Sub-3 inch blade and must not lock or be easily deployable with one hand is the gist of it. Most Victorinox knives meet that criteria. Most Leathermans do not. If you have a genuine reason for carrying a larger or stronger knife then that’s fine, but for keeping in a pocket without good reason is potentially quite serious trouble.

Understood. It’s more for around the house, or taking on holiday.

I of course have a Zombie knife I bought off the Dark Web for when I go out and about.

I've always wondered how much flex there is in the 'good reason'. I take my Leatherman out and about regularly, by which I mean for dog walks, working in the woods etc, rather than into town and/or down the pub. I can't imagine I'd ever be prosecuted for carrying it in those circumstances, but who knows in this day and age? One must acknowledge the possibility.

Not in the UK. Possibly Germany.

Lionsteel Jack3. UK legal and has the appropriate accessory blades. Considerable "step up" on Victorinox quality.

Thanks, that looks like just the thing.
I carry one of those. Have a sit down before you look up the price though. If I bought again, I'd go for the Jack 2, which misses off the corkscrew (that I've never used) and is a bit cheaper. And slimmer.

Another vote for the Leatherman Wave. Fantastic tool, I've had mine for 25 years and had it repaired/replaced under warranty, when I was the one being an idiot. I snapped the blade off using it to make kindling (hit blade with log) that I'd done many times before

I like the fact that they use unnecessarily high-quality steel for the bottle opener.

Now I need to choose which wood. Or carbon fibre. Of plastic.

Rumour has it that in the old phone boxes of the early 1970's you could get a pen knife into a slot and unlock the door that held all the 2p coins, never tried it myself of course but you could imagine it being a good source of income to a 10 year old.

Old school.

So tactile, and so good at it's job; cutting. A pleasure to have on your person. [i](I'm probably going to jail, amn't I ??) /[i]
Nice
anything Al Mar ...
Thanks. I've had it for over 35 years; it was left to me in a deceased pal's estate. It has a bigger brother, Russian-doll like, and I know it's in a safe place.... just can't remember which one. scratchchin

Bought my Leatherman Wave in 2000. Done so much with it over the years, and it still looks and performs like new. Worth every penny, and more.

Random story - flew to Finland, pre-9/11 with said Wave in my hand luggage, nobody cared. Coming back though, security said I couldn't take it on board, so they put it in a little box and checked it in to the hold for me. As I was travelling light, it was my only hold luggage so I stood at the carousel for ages waiting for a tiny box with a Leatherman in it.

I expect they'd just confiscate it now.
You were lucky.

I had a Victorinox one confiscated from my hand luggage at Gatwick in 1999!

I used to have always a Classic on my car keys, but after getting three taken off me in various places I don't bother anymore.

I nearly did that with my Victorinox a few months ago. Luckily there’s a post office branch before security in Terminal 5 at Heathrow. I was able to buy a Jiffy bag and a stamp, so l posted it home rather than lose it.

Boker Tech Tool 4 - use it every day, it's brilliant.

Had mine a couple of years, the scissors and the pliers are great and useful!!

That looks like an excellent combination of tools. I'm interested, but it looks very wide.

I currently carry a pocket knife (the choice of which is dependent on where I'm going/what I'm doing) and an excellent 20+ year old Leatherman Crunch (with its mini Mole grips. The serrated locking blade has been removed). The Leatherman comes in handy for work at times and is more robust than a Swiss Army knife.

Another leatherman lover here - had it about 20 years and use it daily. Also really like the Opinel blade - so sharp.

Opinel are great, but have a locking blade if you don't want to chop your fingers.

Funny enough I just read that Victorinox are looking to produce a range without a blade, for just those reasons.

The annoying thing is that people who want to harm others will use kitchen knives or big cheap stylised things that are not small pocket tools like an Opinel or a Swiss army knife. A non locking swiss army blade is likely to fold up on you if you tried to stab anybody with it. The small SAK blades are tiny anyway.
