Only 5 of us in our co., small family run firm, for the Secretary's 20 year service we swapped her old Ford Ka for a Brand new Aygo - a small price to pay for some excellent and loyal service hopefully for a few years yet!

Bloody hell.

Anyone would think you worked there for free out of the goodness of your own heart.

My father in law worked for London Electricity Board for most of his working life. After 20 years service he got a small desk calender with a fake aluminum plaque thanking him for 20 years service.

After 30 years he got a replacement plaque to stick over the 20 year one!

I did not quite make my 10 years at the previous company, leaving after 9 years and 9 months. However you had the choice of any items up to the value of $250. Trouble was the items had to come from the corporate shop.

Would not have been too bad if this had been a shop, or something with decent stock, but it was an insurance company, so it was golf umbrellas, golf balls, pens, torches, belts, cufflinks - all of the corporate logo'd (how do you spell that?!) crap that is given out. I was not too upset to miss out on this!

Best I know of was someone who every 10 years service is given a 6 month, fully paid sabatical. He is on his 17th year now, so 3 more to go for his next one. That is the best perk I have ever heard of to encourage you to stay......

I believe that 40 years at a certain card company used to bring with it a round-the-world ticket. I don't think they do it anymore.

10 years in my office gives you an extra couple of days leave and entitlement to take up to one year unpaid career break whilst they hold your job open.

Have my 5 year presentation 3 month ago (albiet it also being a year late)

A 1/2 Krugerrand (It's a South African firm) and a nice photo of me and the Top Boss and his 'Oppo (who both flew in from SA for the award ceremony)

In another 4 years I'll get a whole Krugerrand

I'll be hitting my 10 year anniversary with my current employer next year (touch wood!), which means I'll get an extra day's holiday entitlement, £150 in my pay packet (for 1 month only, sadly), £100 to spend on whatever I fancy using my company credit card and £50 for celebratory drinks.

I wondered who'd spot that first, for the uninitiated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krugerrand

After just under 10 years with my previous company last year I got....
Made redundant. (With no redundancy pay as they sold the assets then liquidated)
