Was the MW a non-white MW?
Short, dumpy, 50 year old, middle class white woman. So no.
I'm not so sure middle-class people go around knocking on doors asking such questions.

Surely this is obvious - non white is not black, it could be:
black
yellow
brown
orange
teak

Otherwise, how could they survey david dickinson and robert kilroy silk?

MORI are conducting a survey to establish whether it's true that "your people" are really gifted in the trouser department. Wait for her to knock on the door tomorrow and answer it naked! wink
*****Shudder*****
I think they mean anybody in the CRE classif=cations A ( Asian A1-A9), Black ( B1 to B9), SE Asian (Chinese) )O1 and O0 (other). Basically anybody not white. Statutory consultaion stuff I guess.

Slight resurrection - The MORI woman revisited last night and I figured that I'd at least find out what the survey was all about - 35 minutes later, we're all done.

It was a local government poll done by MORI for the local council - they wanted the opinion of ethnic minorities on how they feel about local life, crime, how I feel and what my views are - all from a "minority perspective". Questions included whether I felt there was religious extremism in my local area (in rural lincolnshire??), whether I have other minority friends, whether I feel that I've been victimised (racially or religiously) locally by the council/police/shop owners/local residents/etc, whether I felt that the locals felt dislike/hatred towards me due to my colour or religion (??), etc - the first question* got my back up and it didn't seem to get any better.

* What Ethnic group do you think you are - there were about 16 choices and "Black British" wasn't on the list. That always pisses me off.

It was well worth the 35 odd minutes that it took up.

So I'm now a(nother) statistic.

That would piss me off too. I don't describe myself as "Caucasian"?

Maybe they'll do something useful with the information. One must hope.

What's the deal with the numbers then? Is it used to classify different shades?

Like Pantone, so they can choose the right crayon when drawing up sketches of the armed robbers...

I think I'm more a kind of pinky / tan colour. Does that count as non-white?
