Before setting off to work this morning, noticed there was a report on how fat people should not be ridiculed or abused physically/verbally in public because that would be classed as a 'fat hate' crime.

Apart thinking it's another useless label put onto something that has been going since the year dot, obviously I wouldn't condone physical attack on someone just because of their weight - it's their choice and should be free to do what they like.

However the discussion always end up with they don't have a choice as they are genetically challenged therefore can't lose weight etc but without going all scientific it's no rocket science that if you eat more and do zero exercise you're more likely to resemble the Michelin man than Christiano Ronaldo.

As most of my work colleagues is made up of females, this was a topic of discussion this morning - cue lots of moaning whilst chomping on a packet of crisps wondering why/how they got so fat...

Suppose the sun shines out of your arse does it!!

Get a life!
And yours too for being a tt? It's just a topic of discussion, it would seem some of you are as sensitive as some people discussing religion.
I should try to ignor the utter drivel that gets posted on this site. You being an intelligent person would know that these threads are not a conversation but a cheap way of poking a bit of fun.
Is there anything you don't like about yourself? Maybe we could discuss thatsmile

I'm one of those people that eats whatever they want, whenever they want 24/7. And not put on a single bit of weight. I love it.

When I used to work in an office I would have fish andchips or kebab almost every day with 3 cream cakes. ... fatties didn't love me smile

anyone watch 1/2 a tonne mum last night?

All her family said it wasnt her fault that she was like that, she was mobile before the car crash and then she spent the next 4 years bed bound...

They siad she eat cause she is unhappy and that people have been making fun of her (she knew this even despite being bed bound... her chief kept bringing her 10 1lb burgers and as many cookies as she wanted... but it was not her fault as she is unhappy...

I said they should just let her die and then charge the feeders for manslaughter... OH went mental at me saying she cant help being like that (despite demanding all the food, etc) and that the other people were just helping her get over her injuries and the state should do everything in its power to help her (even though its her own fault cause of her love of food)... Missues then went mental at me for suggesting that other people needed the beds (in her case) more than her as it was her self doing, she mistakenly suggested like who???

I said my senile Grandpa who is on kidney and liver failure at the moment (dont worry hes had a good life and I have come to terms with the fact hes a lucky bastid for living so long and now escaping the living hell that winky Mcfknut is now unleashing on the country), but he keeps getting sent home at every improvement and then going back in a few days later when the organs go back to not working... And when I get hold of the people that keep releasing him, Im going to wring their bloody neck...

She is now just talking to me after all that...

All over a fat chick....

so that's ok is it? taking the piss and calling colleagues names which you know they would find hurtful? I'm sure your HR department would love to talk to you about it.

Its difficult really. Yes, exercise and diet are directly related, however the body is genetically programmed to eat as much food as it can get its hands on. Its why fat tastes so good, because fat carries lots of energy.

Evolution hasn't quite caught up with the food-on-demand society we now have.

Having said that, for most people there really isn't an excuse. You can burn 500 calories just by walking 4 miles, and that only takes an hour or more.

No, nor would the office bog.

You would eat that at your desk? I hope not. Stinky food eating at desks is even worse that watching fatties wobble about.

The equation is simple, the issues around obesity much more complex. As with so many of today's social problems, poor education has a lot to do with it.
No, it's not complex. There is more nutritional information available today than therfe was 20 or even ten years ago.

Being fat seems like a badge of pride for some chavtastic reason - the British populance are becoming disgusting to look at - topless men with massive beer bellies waddling down the street, muffin tops spilling over too tight jeans - most high streets are repulsive places to be these days.

Sadly, self respect is something that departed the British Isles a decade or so ago.

Some new research is suggesting that exercising more won't help you lose weight, because you more than make up for the calories burnt when you eat.

http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/...

"Everyone keeps on repeating this mantra that underactivity causes excesss weight. But there is no way you can infer causality. We were quite struck by our results; they are quite clear. It is obesity that is leading to inactivity in children, and not the other way around."

Just a fcensoredg minute!

I do sort of blame my parents as my weight issues have been around since I was too young to know what was happening to me. An example of their 'post war parenting' would be - If I was a good boy I ate everything on my plate and for I would be ‘rewarded’ with more calories in the form of a dessert.

Things like this are ingrained from an early age when we’re all learning our fundamental and instinctive thoughts/reactions. What pcensoreds me off is people like the OP that have absolutely zero inclination of the above and still feel the need to insult others with a ‘one-for-all’ sweeping and quite frankly idiotic statement. Pathetic.

Yes there is no excuse as an ADULT to not attempt to help yourself and I lay no blame at the door of any fast food/advertising company. But when you’ve had the subconscious set out for you as a child in these matters, it is very very hard to overcome and change.

I know as I have been 'dieting' for ~10 years and basically just yo-yoed!

This name calling has gone official now. Got a letter from my sons school a few weeks back advising us that they have evaluated my oldest son and he is obese. Letter laying it on thick about how he will suffer health problems, its all our fault for not feeding him properly and have we considered something other than mcdonalds burgers ? Cheeky fkers.

Just for the record he is 11 years old , tall and skinny , very muscular as he participates in cycling, karate, trampoline gymnastics and swimming. He eats fresh fruit and veg in large quantities every day and rarely has sweets.

Apparently the school were just following government guidelines. He is x high and y heavy therefore he is obese. No he's tall skinny and solid muscle actually. They agree with me the there is not an ounce of fat on him but still have him recorded as obese as thats what the rules say.

Erm, you can remove the skin by holding one end and pulling it off. I find that a knife does a good job of removing excess fat.

Because it costs money to pay someone to do what I described above.

Additionally, you can remove 20% of the fat of any of the products you describe and reduce costs by just eating 20% less. If you're still hungry have some celery.

Well it's another fatties thread on PH, however we've a few fatties wading in this time with some opinions!

For the record, I'm a fattie, was 17 stone 3-4 weeks ago, I'm 16 stone now. I should be around 14 stone by chrimbo if all goes well which is about right for my height (6' 2")

No real diet just cooking stuff for myself at home rather than fast food, drinking less, and not eating anything with pastry, only because I made some of my own for the first time and was horrified how much butter went into the stuff! oh and the important bit, going to the gym 4-5 times a week.

For me to get to that weight I had to drink about 30-40 units of booze a week have a big/fatty lunch every day (2 sarnies and a pack of crisps), 3-4 takeaways a week, fair amount of junk snacks in between and my job consists of sitting on my arse in front of a PC all day. Self abuse of the higest order IMO. Whole large dominos pizza plus a couple of sides to myself for dinner, that kind of thing.

I do wonder how people get REALLY big, and think maybe they ARE a little more pre-disposed to store fat than me, although I've done a pretty good job of growing a big old belly and moobs. I ate nothing but ste, to get REALLY big there most be some other factor, or you must eat LOTS more than I did.

From experience it does sort of "creep up" on you a bit, you notice you're a bit squishy, then you go up a waist size, then one day you realise you're a massive lump! you either have to be happy with that or go fix it! The "appologists" seem to have the lightbulb moment, but lack the motivation to do anything, its not hard to loose weight, there are loads of methods out there that work, ignoring the merits of fad diets and weight loss drugs, operations etc, none are hard to do, you just have to be motivated enough to choose one and stick to it! If you cant then shuddup moaning about being a lump, accept yourself and be happy about it.
