What age is your boy, and is he into anything 'Land Rover' or just this 'toylander' thing?

He is 4 in January.
Loves anything to do with cars- not happy with me for selling the TVR and buying a saab!

Alas, little comprehension of finance (long may it continue) so as it's been the year from hell, I started it a while ago, and with the help offered on here should be do-able by Christmas.

His real interest is in Disney cars, but at 5 or 6 quid a pop for the more obscure ones, the landy is at the forefront for Santa!
I shall be cracking on next week after the next hospital appointment.

I'd be telling him to call Childline on that basis alone.

He can when I have finished talking to the Samaritans.

Will have another one day when healed, employed and generally less skint

Emsman, I know you're probably not going to like this suggestion but I can't do anything practical to help with the Toylander but I'd like to donate a few quid towards the shipping/courier charges you're going to end up with. You've had a stty year and I'd like to do something to help you and your loved ones. You were the chap who was nice enough to care about my friend's missing spaniel earlier this year.

Can you PM me your address or a paypal address?

Also, give me a shout next year and I'll see if I can get you to one of our race meetings and we'll get your lad around a circuit - I think we've got F2 at Silverstone early'ish in the year. We need to brainwash the new motorsport fans early on biggrin

Piglet,
That is a very kind offer, but alas I can't accept.

I have had a couple of emails from various (amazingly kind) PH'ers offering to donate some cash to this project.

I'm worried that it will sound rude, but pride would never allow me to.

I really do appreciate it- it's kind beyond belief- and yep, the year from hell. That said, I'm sure there are folk worse off than me- I'm lucky in having thick skin, a (somewhat warped) sense of humour, and the overwhelming feeling that we can only go in one direction.

Thanks again fir the offer, and please don't be offended by my post.

All the best to you and yours.

PS remember the spaniel incident very well. 2 days walking around near Luton.
If memory serves me, the dog turned up in the quarry? I walked through the day before- bloody spaniels

I knew you'd say that biggrin Pride isn't always a good thing you know....

Your "thick skinned" joke is pretty good for a man in your condition!

Piglet, if I couldn't laugh I would truly be fked.
Sometimes things just don't go right, can only get better now (sooner may be better than later)

Oh, and it's pride- not gay pride!!

I have just been through that web site and have planned my project for my little one.

I will follow this thread and wish you all the very best of British to accomplish this task.

Your son is in for one hell of a Christmas.

Nice warm feeling now.

Emsman where are you based?

I know i'm still a Newbie of sorts on here but your accident prone lifestyle has made me chuckle quite alot! I'm quite handy with a spray gun if you need help on that front?

Many thanks for the offer.

I have a friend who is taking it to their bodyshop to give it the correct shade of land rover green, and will lacquer it too to protect it.

Thanks very much fir the offer though- very much appreciated.

For the record I'm just outside of sunny Milton Keynes.

Ps. Glad I amuse someone!!!

The only practical thing I can think of donating to this project is a battery isolation/cut off key? Got one knocking around, and its no use to me! Let me know if it'll be useful smile

Emsman. Let me know which bits you want from my earlier post. No courier charge as I am near enough to MK to drop it in or meet you somewhere.

Will glady and with some huge measure of gratitute accept all of the bits.

Everything will have a use at some stage- electric may be replaced by good old petrol in the future.

Delivery would be superb- been on here a while and good to finally meet a few folk.

(don't look too much like john merrick despite the burns!)

Don't know one end of a spanner from the other, and have no parts for the Toylander. However I'm only 7 miles from Bedford, so not too far from you. If you need something picking up or need a lift to pick up some parts. Give me a shout via email.
