You have an honourable name sire, I will take note of your comments for future references.deevlash said:
erm, a pher did kill themselves ages and ages ago. They didnt post a note here though but they just vanished and then theyre partner I think it was posted about what had happened. He used to post a lot in the old aero forum iirc.
I remember that, it was awful.ETA: IIRC his name was Ian and it was very very sad indeed.

sorry to hear that - I had no idea - that's genuinely sad - I doubt PH was the reason but sometimes people just spout at strangers and have no idea of who they are, chances are they ain't helping... RIP whoever it wasI was in a cab earlier and the driver told me about a bloke who'd taken a dive off North Bridge in Edinburgh. I honestly didn't give a st about the guy, and sympathised with the cabbie who'd had his usual route fked up by it. And probably felt more for the people who'd had their day disrupted.
Yet, a few years ago, a good friend of mine killed himself at Great Portland St station by throwing himself in front of the underground train. That funeral was one of the most emotional times of my life.
I cannot explain the difference in empathy.
I can only assume that it's related to personal proximity. If we know the person involved, it's hell. If we don't....all bets are off.
ETA - further to the PH example, that one falls somewhere in the middle for me. I didn't know the guy. So I'm not particularly fussed about it. But I know that people I *do* know, knew him. Thus I'm slightly less cavalier about it. Unpalatable, maybe, but it's the truth.

I went to school with a guy who took a dive off the NB, He didn't die but lost both legs, I also know or known a few who have actually taken their own life for what would seem to us a daft mistake they made! cold yes - truthful also... the only time a strangers death will bother me is if I bear witness... the point of the Op was the ability of the keyboard warriors to put down anyone they chose to disbelieve. You may type that crap but do you have the balls to watch them die.. I somehow doubt it - once you've looked in a dying mans eyes you wouldn't type that st if you were anywhere near a normal human being!!! East Anglia forum, a lot of us went to his funeral. It's weird, it really doesn't bother me when people do this, so long as I don't know them.
On another forum I go on, I remember one guy (I think from Greece or Cyprus?), was a conscript and shot himself with his service rifle. Even though I'd never really chatted to him in person I was really saddened by it just because we had the connection of being a member on the same forum as eachother.

The thought also occurs that anyone familiar enough with internet fora, or networking sites, to even *think* of posting something like a suicide note, would also know fine well what the reaction is likely to be. That's one of the reasons I, personally, ignore, or ridicule, any kind of "problem post" as nothing more than bluster.

Given that i expected not 1 answer to the OP and that's what i got... I'll be back (post wk) in the morning with more bks replies... I genuinely personally don't give a fk BUT there are some weird mofos out there who may give a toss what some of you children have to say... if you're gonna be rude at least make your face known rather than instill your crap in strangers, if you can't get out from under your keyboard then shut the fk up, on that note put me down for the next city drinks... can't write this st and bottle out now can I :-)
So. How are you feeling this morning? gilla said:
deliberate mis-spelling... BUT... Given the earlier post by a nonsense I wondered... As a serious discussion (yeah like fk) how many of you PH banter merchants would feel bad if some numpty dropped a suicide post on here only to have the arse (yeah yeah) ripped out of them and then it turned out they'd done it and topped themselves... Would you feel bad for mugging them off? Or would you feel wood?... Discuss (disgust etc)
bi the way (get the pun?) my bi-sexual false breasted woman hasn't left me YET but i am writing poetry just in case and buying extra lube whilst stalking her online!!
I guess the question is really... Is there a sad enough "Man" who would top himself on the internet or are all these muppets really seeking help when murder or suicide would do and save on council tax?
Crack on lads the outcome is your opinion!
Well, I missed the earlier post (and am a little intrigued)but I have dealt with many people who have committed (most by jumping, a couple by hosepipe into the car, couple of O/D's, one by petrol and a match, hangings, trains and one who swallowed DDT - that was fking awful), have tried to commit and were threatening to commit.bi the way (get the pun?) my bi-sexual false breasted woman hasn't left me YET but i am writing poetry just in case and buying extra lube whilst stalking her online!!

Threatening, IMO, is not done by someone looking to commit - they tend to just do it.
If someone posts threatening to commit and already hasn't, answers the 'Please don't, think of the dolphins' responses chances are they won't. That time.
There will be those that leave a last post as a suicide note.
I have never dealt with a 'Threatner' who went on to commit - I am sure some do, just I have not come across it.
