Friends are those who help you in times of need. Only a handful of people I know would do that.

How many friends would you say you have and how often do you interact with them (text/call/visit/activity)?
Are you 12?

I would guess I am at an age where counting the number of friends I have no longer matters

Well I've got about 750 on Facebook, but in terms of real friends, like 20 close ones at home, 15 at Uni, and about 5 mates that I'd talk to about anything.

4 - One of whom I tell absolutely everything (and is helping me at the moment) - but all of them, I know I can pick up the phone to at any time and they'll help me out, talk to me or put me up and I'd do the same for them - they'll let me talk about whatever and accept it if I don't want to talk about my situation.

Also all of them I can pick up the phone to and chat randomly as if I only spoke to them about 20 minutes ago even though I can go weeks and not see them.

I've probably got about 5 or 6 friends who would be there no matter what (as in would put me up indefinately, lend me their last tenner and so on). In town I know loads and loads of people to say hello to, but I wouldn't say they were friends more than acquaintances.

Facebook, I've somewhere around 250 people. Don't really see the point in farming for more if I'm just going to top up with random people I barely know talking ste about their lives.

I consider everyone on PH as my 'friends'.
But, I dislike you all equally, there are no best friends here.

Otherwise, the answer is no.

I've found out over the last few weeks/months.

I'm in the process of leaving to head to Aus, and the people who've helped with places to stay (UK and Aus), people who've helped with house packing/moving and generally been about to offer assistance.

People who are trying to spend as much time as possible with me and the wife, but who are not playing the "don't go" card.

I'd say about a dozen real close mates, and then a few dozen friends.

I have countless aquaintances from rugby, cricket, motorsport, bar work etc.

Mates I would say 80-90.

Friends, true friends, I am very lucky as I probably have 10 that would drop everything for me, and have been doing recently. I would do the same for any of them too. That's what friends are all about!

According to Facebook I have 264 friends. But only about 5 of them I visit, the rest I am merely stalking.

I think i'm pretty lucky in that i've got a close group of c.25 friends.

We see eachother regularly (obviously not all at once, but only maybe 2 weeks between seeing each person). We all get together at xmas and have a big xmas dinner, and all go away once a year to a cottage somewhere.

At least 10 of them are friends from school (near Manchester) who are now all down south as well.

I think i'm very lucky and privileged to have such a large group of mates, but it can be a pain in the arse at xmas/birthdays to remember to post a card!

I'd say of that group, there are probably 15 that I would risk my life to save.

I have four GREAT friends that I'm pretty sure I could call on in times of need ie., at 3 am with a body to bury and they would bring along their own shovel. Their partners make up the rest of the people I deeply care for and I'm lucky enough to have other close friends that would offer love and support but might baulk at the dead body! ;-)

I prob can never thank my close friends enough; they are the ones that keep picking me up, dusting me down and don't tell me off too much when I look like I might make the same mistakes again.

As for my best friend that has to be my husband, what's love without total acceptance?

I've got two very close friends, proper roll of carpet stuff, all the way back from childhood (I'm 31)

Outwith that, I have a bunch of friends - maybe about 15 people that I genuinely enjoy being in the company of.

Beyond that, not much more than "people I know" and aquaintances.
