We had 5 seconds of huge rain drops, in bright sunshine.

Evaporated almost as quickly!

I’m not sure it’s the 38 degrees predicted... it’s hovering around 30 in Oxford and cooled a tad since the clouds rolled in. I guess the breeze is keeping things in check?
It was always going to be further east really - 35.9 and 4 hours of cooking to go.

July record will fall.

As for the UK record, I hope it goes otherwise all this torture will have been for nothing.
If you remember, the previous record was set in August, with a long and brutal warm period - very gradual heating up.

This has been over 3 days with a VERY different weather pattern. Low pressure west of Ireland spinning the heat up from the Sahara.

I'm keeping a close eye on that one...it's heading right for me...
The western side (without electric fun currently) looks far more menacing than the east...

Whats the scores on the doors then? Hottest day ever? I’ll be honest, i’m glad I missed it sitting by the sea in a positively chilly 30oC in spain.

The UK isn’t prepared for heat.
38.1 current highest recorded official temp - Cambridge. Falling just short, but taking silver.
