Lodestone = focus of attraction.
Well, German tap water is usually on par/better than the bottled stuff.
Re Riesling - very complex matter, but you are right. Also depends which region (Rheingau/Mosel/Kaiserstuhl etc)
Have you been to Bucks/Pratts?
And with B-R I meant the one in Geneva. Although, yes, the Longemalle is much better (=subdued/no Russian hookers/spies)

German Riesling ice wine instead of Sauternes Eiswein is a nouveau product. Auslese-upwards Pradikat wines are the unimpeachable quality standard, particularly the auction wines.
Tap water instead of Swedish imported bottled water That's just inverse snobbery (much like the 80s Volvo thing). Yorkshire tap water is good. London tap water tastes dreadful.
Life:
Buck's Club and Pratt's Really?
Rules Restaurant Dreadful place
The Beau-Rivage Hotel Assuming you mean the Beau Rivage Place in Lausanne, I agree.

Have you been to Bucks/Pratts? [b]No. I've been to plenty of the rest. I get the appeal of the atmosphere and the wine cellars, but most have mediocre food. The RAC with its pool and gym has extra appeal, but it's too far from the City to make sense. If I lived out of town, they'd make a lot more sense.

Company branded polos!
One of the wealthiest people I know dresses daily with polos from movie sets he's worked on and just an old pair of jeans. He also wears a 1970's Rolex and occasionally drives his Bentley GT otherwise it's his 1980's Merc SL.
Awesome chap.
Unless you saw him driving his Bentley you wouldn't suspect a thing!
