I've ordered the F40, I think it will be at least a year until they release that Caterham (if ever).

The reason I came on though is I just ordered some new Sim racing gear.

Not out until the end of August and they won't make me any faster.
But look at them!

Okay, so not quite totally frivolous because Ive wanted one for a while.

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessorie...

Can now sit across my lounge and stream music from stty laptop speakers over to the wonderful hi-fi sat in the corner. So far not terribly impressed, its good... but not great. Sound quality obviously not up to a cable, and occasionally seems to drop a few bits of data so 'stutters' slightly. No doubt 90% of people wouldnt notice, and for £30 I cant really complain too much.

Anyone know much about drones? Mate was mucking about with parrot ar 2.0 that he has had sat about for well pver a year now.

We ended up lookng at various youtube videos and there seem to be some cool ones out there. His 2.0 has been superceded by the bepop. The phantom 3 looks awesome but has a pricetag to match.

Are there any options for a generic one that can house/mount a go pro?

More frivolity to do with my audio gear; of course my pretty cheap and cheerful (in audio terms!) needed a new subwoofer to add some bass to the setup. Sounds fantastic, and now I can bluetooth from the other end of the room, the system actually gets used a bit more.

I have just ordered this Walkera Scout x4. I have been looking at it for a week and then tonight when i went to order it, it was discounted by nearly £200.

Spent the last week looking at them and this seems the best bang for the buck.Has been flown up to 3.5km away and has android/apple app that lets you fly it with a route planner and "follow me" feature.

Not sure how long it will be reduced. There is a version available with an "ilook plus" camera if you do not own a go pro.

That looks great!

Would like to know how well,it flys out of the box, and what the follow me mode is like.

They seem like good value, does it come with the gimbal for the gopro installed?

Just following on from my purchase yesterday of a used Daskeyboard S Pro with Cherry MX Blue keys, I have discovered that there is quite the "scene" for after-market customisations of such keyboards with alternative keycaps readily available.

Right now I'm considering the frivolous purchase of replacement W, A, S and D keys in red.

of course the whole thing with mechanical keyboards is they can be made over thusly...

On the drone front, been flying quadcopters for a while, using FPV (first person view), just picked up an Immersion Vortex which is frivolous and utterly ace...

That one ranges from $1100 to $1400 and is made by these people.

I like it slightly less now that I learn it is a replica of something from a TV series. frown

But then I found they have made this one too, which I love even more. cloud9

yup it is quite pricey but...

also bear in mind that although it is "based on" an item from a TV show, said item likely existed before the show and was used to enhance the show's aethestic

A fair point.

I'd have the Art Deco one in preference anyway though, as I'm much more into the dieselpunk aesthetic than the steampunk one. But that's just a personal preference, of course.

First, I bought this. A few years ago:-

It wasn't working very well, so I took it to bits. Liked it so much, I bought 2 more. And took them to bits. Then I thought I'd just put it back together with old bits, and ride it for a while. The I decided to build a nice one. So I bought lots of new bits off Ebay to put it together. Now in a box under the bench. Didn't like the way some of it was made, so bought this to make some new round bits :-

And now I need one of these to make not round bits:-

Oh, hang on, the shed ain't big enough now. So now I need a brickie to make it bigger.

Am I doing this the right way guys ?
