Brother’s place, top of Culver Down overlooking Sandown on IOW.
Very nice. Thought it looked a bit Isle of Wightish, I think I have been past on the wet side (not walking though ApOrbital).I bet that is getting a proper slamming today if it isn’t getting any protection from the south of the island.. We are at Port Solent marina and although it is calming down a bit now, it has been quite mad this morning.
Deep low pressure 970hPa roughly over Evesham earlier today.
River levels still quite high, though catchment area saturated and lot of rain today so new flood warning issued for Wye in Herefordshire.
Recent bizarre sights.
At height of highest flood level in Hereford for 20 years, canoeist spotted shooting Wye Bridge, no life jacket.
Pitchcroft car park closed for flooding,
Yet in same car park, what the....?

Pug,
Any updates on what those crazy weather scientists maybe thinking by looking into their supercomputer powered crystal balls?
Any signs of the stratospheric warming, an Eastern blocking pattern, a Scandinavian wotsit or generally anything colder that will kill all of the spiders and stops the grass growing?
Or is the mild, wet and windy going to continue?

It's a strange one at the moment. The polar vortex that normally starts to appear over NE Canada/Greenland at this time of year is missing. However, despite this, the jet stream is active, and pointing straight at us. So the outlook remains cool and unsettled.
Keeping an eye out for widespread snowfall on Sat - but certainly not sounding the klaxon at this point. As usual, it's knife-edge territory and not 100% supported by all the models - so no excitement, yet.
