Gift cards.
Totally agree. You give an unsecured loan to the company to which the gift card is for, which you will lose if they go bankrupt. And you are dictating to the person you are giving it to where they can spend the money.
In days gone by it could be argued that giving record vouchers to someone who liked music was your way of saying "I wanted to buy you a record but want you to choose which one" but those days are long gone.

He misses two really important points amongst all his good (yet very sweary) points. - My aforementioned point about the company going bankrupt (a real concern since 2008) and
- You don't get any change. So to spend your £20 gift card you have to either find items to the value of exactly £20, or spend more and make up the difference, or spend less and leave some credit on the gift card which will probably end up expiring.

Plenty of people laugh inappropriately, I guess you think they're all shy.

Building alarms. What's the fking point? I recently moved to a town centre (more fool me in hindsight) and they go off all the time. Probably about 4 a day. They're damn irritating and seem to be allowed to go on forever. If you heard a building alarm going off would you you think 'some poor shop's being robbed'. No. I doubt you'd even glance at it, you'd just assume, much like car alarms, that some dheads alarm has gone off. They should be capped a 5 seconds, max. What really irritates me though is because the people who own / manage the shop don't have to listen to them going off, they couldn't give a st, so in my area the same alarms go off time and again. If you insist on having an audiable alarm it should be tied to an emergency call to the police, who would give you a world class bking for wasting their time and the problem would be solved as people would get their alarms sorted.
Surely people realise that the 'boy who cried wolf' effect meant that people stopped giving a st about alarms 30 years ago FFS.
Yes, i have been listening to an alarm for the last 30mins

"Repeat Post", "Repost", "Pearoast" posts.
Just fk off. Not all of us have the time, patience, or desire to re-read entire threads when we find them many pages in. Not everyone can watch EVERY thread all of the time. So inevitably there will be some re-posting of photos, text, web links, etc. Just fking-well live with it. Don't ruin the flow of a thread getting into a spat with someone who thought they were doing "The Internet" a favour by posting their amusing link or photo on a particular thread.
Half the time I've seen the re-post too. But hey, so much st happens, both on the internet and in real life in the intervening period that it's often genuinely interesting and a pleasure to be reminded of that photo or link. It is also a 110% ( given the thread title = ) certainty that the re-posted link will be far more desirable and interesting than some adenoidal pensioner wagging a virtual finger and generally being a boring tt.
By all means, get rid of doubles of whole threads, or close them and redirect traffic to the original, but when it's just a photo repeated on one thread? Let it ride, FFS!

That same alarm is still going off now, over 12 hours after it started. I'm not sure about manning up, going postal seems a more attractive option.

Snubs? Report it man. Seriously, putting up with that sort of uncivilised st is not on. Anyone who cares so little about their property that they fail to respond to the alarm deserves having their doors kicked down and being presented with a £350 bill for the privilege.
They've installed and set an alarm that has been ignored by them, yet is making surrounding people's lives miserable for extended periods. They are simply selfish, and therefore are contemptuous of your need for peace, and your right to "quiet enjoyment" of your own property. Get 'em reported, and hopefully they'll end up being fined for offences under environmental protection legislation. Hopefully then they'll either get the alarm fixed or disconnect it permanently. Either way, you win.

Just to add that I completely agree with you. It pisses me right off. People should really find better thigns to do with their lives. Presumably their sitting at their PC, just waiting for opportunity to point a repost out because they can't.
