How come were can see the international space station when it comes over? I'm no expert, but I don't think its got the need for headlights, so why does it appear lit up to us down here?
Big hot yellow thing over there -> lots of light coming off it, reflects off other things.
I didn't think there would be enough on the ISS to reflect that much sunlight?

Huge solar panel array. Also it is not that high off the ground compared to other orbiting satellites.I didn't think there would be enough on the ISS to reflect that much sunlight?
that Adele song in the charts now
an ex phones you up and says "fancy getting together to talk about why we split up years ago?" (and she's phoned a thousand times)
Is there a man on the planet who'd go for that?
Do the women who buy her records actually believe that's a realistic scenario?
her last song was the same "hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited..... but I want to stalk you again"

When I was at school we were taught in IT about Word Processor software, Spreadsheets and Desktop Publishing among other things. I still use the first 2 on a daily basis but does such a thing as DTP software actually exist any more, or has other software taken over that function?
And on a related note, has anyone used a supplied letter/document/CV template to produce anything in the last 20 years, as we were assured was the norm in school?

I've noticed since it's got colder, that the pantograph on the overground Thameslink trains crackle constantly and spark.
Why don't they do this when it's warm?
In cold weather, the cables shrink, increasing the tension and lifting them up slightly. This creates more air gaps between them and the pickup as the train rattles along. The air is also drier as cold air can't hold as much moisture as warm. Perfect conditions for little bolts of "lightning" between cable and pantograph. Why don't they do this when it's warm?
Are you sure it's not due to ice forming on the bottom of the cable? I only ever noticed that when the temperature was below freezing.

"What You See Is What You Get" (WYSIWYG) Word Processors have done the small "Desktop Publishing" job since about Word for Windows 2.0. I'm not sure if the professionals use something more niche, but in my limited experience publications want Word format.MissChief said:

Why is it that nose hair is much thicker and stronger than head hair ?
Because it's designed to stop foreign objects entering the nose rather than keeping your head warm. The maxim is: None on your head ,plenty up your nose.

I thought the cable's tension remained constant, that being the reason for the massive weights hanging at certain points to keep a constant tension on the line?

It might be, look at the arcing you get on third rail systemsAre you sure it's not due to ice forming on the bottom of the cable? I only ever noticed that when the temperature was below freezing.

Nothing to do with cable tension there.

I used to write technical documents in FrameMaker many years ago, never having used Word. I then moved to a position where I was using Word (version 6 IIRC) for the same purpose and wept with frustration at how fking difficult it was to lay things out. Pictures and tables would move all over the place or vanish, text attributes change at random, pagination all over the place. Even nowadays it's not a great product for DTP.

Do practising Nazis still exist? Is it still possible to be a Nazi or is it verboten?
Disclaimer: I haven't given much thought nor research into this.
