Dear Kent and Essex. No sleep for you tonight...
As for that storm over northern England...

With all the excitement I genuinely hadn't looked ahead for the rest of the weather.
We're caught in another slack pattern - low to the west, high to the east, stuck in the middle with a bit of both.
I'm seeing a Channel low on Monday - I suspect that could get quite 'bangy'.
Positive signs for high pressure in August - let's see.

I went on a 23 mile ride on the heavy 29er mountain bike yesterday evening. To and from Dorney Lake and then four laps round it. It was quite nice whilst out and moving along at my typical 10-12mph, just enough windchill. I was hoping to be able to see the huge streamer of storms to the East of London but didn't see anything, it was a big ask and just too far away. Once back home it was a different matter, there was no escape from the heat.
Pug / anyone else...
There is a huge (as in about the size of Wales) stormy lump of cloud in the Bordeaux region of France heading in our direction. Hope it somehow gets here!
Blitzortung shows it over the Massif Central - winds don't seem to be favourable to push it north, and I have stopped relying on storms crossing the Channel a long time ago.Pug / anyone else...

Best storm I've ever seen in Berkshire came from the NW a couple of years ago.

Well, there you go - toasty hot and sunny most of the week, today because I'm having a BBQ, it's pi55ing down in Solihull.
Will it dry up by 15:00 hrs?
Further south and west you are, the better. This rain will be stubborn and heavy in parts. Will it dry up by 15:00 hrs?
Our bbq is getting lit up at 13.00

Carol wotshername on the BBC gave us in Rochdale a mention this morning - we had a months rain in two days over the weekend. I've got to say it has to be the wettest weekend I can remember - from Friday evening til I went to bed last night it has absolutely bladdered down - proper hard bouncing rain - continually. A very depressing weekend.
After midday Saturday, it was lovely here near Reading - the band of rain moved to the north and left us in sunshine ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

So Puggit, Friday.....?
See the MetOffice pressure forecast:Largely benign, very little wind. That thick black line from Aberdeenshire to East Midlands is a trough, and would bring an increased risk of cloud and precipitation. However, details like that can change significantly as we get closer. So the take home is - more pleasant than tomorrow

The chart shows very weak high pressure over the UK - the colourful lines to our west are Atlantic fronts, and that area of high pressure would not prevent them encroaching very soon after that chart.
