Clearly my weather memory is extremely short as I don't remember it being as warm this time last year. That said, I was living in London, which has it's own micro-climate anyway.
Still more used to cold and frost at this time of year, it's my birthday in 2 weeks and I generally remember chilly weather for various childhood parties!

I didn't remember it either, was mentioned on the weather the other night.
Most November 5ths of my childhood were wet/foggy/mild. Certainly don't remember many frosty ones. Certainly very mild at the moment though. Apart from the record breaking warmest day that broke the sequence and was especially cold here on the South Coast as per picture above!
I spent November 2006 in a hospital on the outskirts of London, recuperating from an accident. I remember it being so hot during my stay there that I spent many days sitting in the sunshine in the hospital grounds. The staff even brought portable air-con units into to the day rooms as we patients were getting so hot and uncomfortable.

Woohoo!
SNOW, finally!
Ok, not even enough to cover the ground fully, nor did it settle on the roads; just a dusting, but it's a start.
Ties in nicely with the UK moving towards Atlantic weather for the foreseeable future. Autumn proper has arrived...SNOW, finally!

Unfortunately the building blocks of a good winter have gone with the Atlantic onslaught. It was always likely to happen.

So the winter tyres can stay in the garage then?Unfortunately the building blocks of a good winter have gone with the Atlantic onslaught. It was always likely to happen.
Well I'm changing over to my winter wheels in 2 weeks so hopefully it will coincide with that.
I remember driving to the garage 4 years ago to have the wheels change. I was in the garage for around an hour and during that time it had started to snow. When I drove out, there was around 2cm of snow on the ground!
