Nice pic, NRS. Where is "here" in this case, please?
Norway.Furthest North I'd been was to Trondheim which was lovely, I'm assuming NRS is in the really North bit.
Norway my No.2 ideal place to live behind No.1 being California.

A bit damp in Sheffield this afternoon, O/H's offices were evacuated as flood defences went up.
Nice understatement! I’ve lived here since 2008. Never seen rain like this. It was bad enough coming home a few hours ago. The rain has suddenly gone up a couple of notches. It’s now absolutely hammering down. The Rivelin and Loxley were really bad earlier and they feed straight into the Don. I wonder how high the water will get at Meadowhall? Not looking good.

Was out in the 3.5t van for work about 5 this morning, drove along an unlit 40 mph road and over a small bridge into a dip, may as well have been driving into a swimming pool it felt that deep. Thought it was going to swallow the van. Made it through at speed and stopped further on to phone the police and let them know.
They asked if I'd phoned the council. I told them the fact the van had just about held up meant any car or motorbike driver could end up much worse, so it was very dangerous, they'd be much more likely to be able to do something at that time of the morning than the council who I'd unlikely to be able to get hold of.
Was still a small flood on one side of the road when I came back through at 1530.
It rained constantly this morning (and I kept getting soaked), let up in afternoon then drizzled this afternoon - evening.

All events at Meadowhall cancelled, people already in Meadowhall advised by police to stay put as area gridlocked. Floodwater now entering Meadowhall itself.
That's what you get for having a Christmas event in early November. Serves them right, and I'm glad the man upstairs has dealt with it appropriately.TheInternet said:
