It would be good if everyone put a name and maybe why they think that person is cool.

I am assuming naming this fellow is not necessary:

Cool because he had genuine integrity, was the greatest, and was also funny, articulate, and had enormous charisma.

It would have been quicker for you to just write his name. Does it make him, or even you, less cool if you do?

Obviously, it's Nelson Mandela.

I know who it is, but it's wrong to assume that everyone will know.

Are you sure? I would never have guessed from that photo.

Still credited with the highest number of confirmed kills by a single sniper, somewhere around the 500 mark if i remember correctly. What makes it even more incredible is he achieved this feat in 12 months.
How the hell is being a sniper cool? Whilst there may be skill involved it is probably the most cowardly way to kill someone. 500 kills? Makes them a mass murderer in my eyes.

A sniper is one of the highest priority targets in war, so it's certainly not cowardly. Oh and murder is the idea of war.

I wouldn't class him as cool though. Brave and skilled, but not cool.

Musicians can be cool if they stand for something more than their music.

I think Lenny Kravits has some good messages about being yourself. Below you'll read about how he's holed up in the Bahamas during Covid.

Clearly there is danger for the sniper so that may not be cowards but I still think the act of sniping is cowardly - basically shooting people at a distance that they don’t realise they are going to get shot.

War is definitely not cool.

You and I have a different idea as to what makes someone a coward.

Paul Newman was a customer of the firm I worked for so was lucky enough to talk to him a few times.

He was an absolute gent, one of the nicest guys I've ever dealt with. Not a hint of stardom or diva-ishness about him, just a very nice, polite, humble man who always made time for you and was always grateful for anything you did for him, even though he was paying for the service we were providing.

Definitely very cool.

I've heard the same from family members who've met him over the years, just a nice, humble but very switched on guy. In his younger days my Dad looked a bit like Newman in the same period and had a certain unquantifiable coolness about him which definitely comes across in some of our old family photos, sadly this is not something I've inherited from him!

As I said in my earlier post, some people just have 'it' and don't have to try, most of the rest of us do not.

So good to read this. Makes me happy that this man was as nice as I've heard.

Of the current era, Ryan Reynolds. He happily takes the mick out of himself despite his high profile. He comes across as a humble, genuine sort. Plus he owns a gin brand. And Wrexham FC. And I suppose he's not a bad looker either.

This video makes me laugh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqJp4byD6Cs where he's interviewed by his 'twin' brother.
