Beretta Extrema 2 is probably not a legendary gun but this clip is worth watching.

Actually there are some problems that would remove any hope of "Legend".....

was there any WW2 gun that Allies produced that bettered Axis?
The Lee-Enfield was superior in every respect to the Gewehr 98. Shorter bolt movement, three rounds fired for every two of the G98, ten against five rounds in the magazine and superior terminal ballistics.

The LE's 'Superior terminal ballistics' were helped along by (allegedly) putting a bit of wood under the copper jacket in the nose of the bullet, so that it 'tumbled' when it splatted against the unlucky beneficiary of the good news. Ze Germans didn't like this.

Would this not have a serious impact on velocity and accuracy?

Nope, in fact a lot of todays match bullets have a cavity in the nose to shift the centre of gravity back making them more stable in flight

That's a Colt Walker. If it were any bigger, it would have to have wheels.

I have one.
The father of a girl I went out with years ago had a deactivated one. I borrowed it for a fancy dress party, on a waist holster it was banging off my knee.

I think it could be safely described as "not intended for quick draws".

Unless, of course, as alluded to earlier, you happen to be Josey Whales, who carried two of them!
this I knew:
Saddle bum said:
The Walker was never intended to worn on the hip in a holster. They were issued in pairs as "horse pistols", one each side, on the saddle, in front of the rider. Originally they were supposed to be fired left-handed, whilst the right hand wielded a sabre, the reins in the teeth.
but my fancy dress costume budget didn't run to a horse, or a sabre for that matter!

This I didn't know:

I hope it was not an original Walker that was deacted. They are worth upwards of $250,000 each.
I'm fairly certain it was a reproduction, in fact I don't think it was actually deactivated, but made as a blank firing replica. The magazine was slightly offset front to back, so there was a vent to allow the gas to escape, but it would not have allowed a round through. I'm going back in my dark and dusty memory, I seem to recall it was made for 9mm blank cartridges.

Oerlikon snaps, just for the sheer quality of it:

Top I started this topic . . .

I had a soft spot for guns when a kid. My town had a WW2 depot which was a treasure, King Tuts tumb for me.

Gatlings and small cannons on camelbacks: how awesome is that!?

I think they need to strengthen the axles on that one.

And what's going to happen when the rounds start coming back down again...?

Most would precess over and come down miles away except they probably have been fitted with a self-destruct unit which will activate after a set time. If they go perfectly upwards they will come down base first until the SDU takes effect.

So when we fired shells vertically, tracked them back and dug them up for examination after they ploughed in base first - it was all a myth, was it?
