^^ Oh. My. Word!.

In response to the earlier posts on the "horror" face tattoo, to those who disagreed with me, I made a mistake. The tattoo itself is good work and well done, but to the point that looking at it makes me feel uneasy, as if the face really has parts missing. To that end, to me at least, it's "bad", not the work, but the choice / content - for others looking at it.

I believe the story behind that, was that her friend had to help her pull a tampon out after it got wedged right up there after a night of loving.

Her friend paid her back with that.

Moral of the story, don't go on TV and let your friend choose the subject matter. hehe

The studio that did mine will not do any facial tattoos.

But there are plenty of other places that will just take the money and do as the client/idiot asks them.

Yeah, loads of artists will turn down all sorts of work. Sometimes they'll be blunt about it, other times they will just say they're not the best person to do it.

I spent quite a bit of time in a very popular, well known London studio. The manager would come in the back and and ask about costing for a tattoo, many times I've seen artists just turn it down as it's small, not worth their time, can't be bothered.

There's so many shops out there now that I think you could literally get anything done. There's always someone who'll do it. biggrin

Tattoo place near me wouldn't do anything football related and they will try and persuade you to think hard about what you want and to make sure there is a meaning, as opposed to just going in, choosing something in their book and saying "I want that", they were also wary about name tattoos.

Which is a relief as many, many years ago I went in when Tribal was fashionable, I asked about costings of one of their tribal designs, he told me to go away to have a think about it and I never had it done; thank fk!!

There but for the grace of God and all that.

Back then - the 90s - tribal tats were a departure from the sailors' tattoos of yesteryear and were, it seemed, fresh and new. But as with all things fresh, one day they become stale.

An extension of that: In today's society, not having a tat is almost more edgy than having one.

Me thinks that they'd been watching Miami Ink a bit too much. biggrin

How could they ever do tribal or ornamental tattoos... They have zero meaning as do most tattoos. It's tv show producers who came up with the idea that every tattoo has to have a meaning and can't just be done because it looks good.
