I'm only about 4 miles from you, I couldn't even get out the estate this morning. Didn't expect that tbh.

Bloody great
You'll be fine. GVA's not that bad and the Autoroute Blanche is rarely closed. A FWD hire car with winters and chains is the fastest winter hack known to man. Once spent a crazy week in Megeve driving a truly knackered Renault 5 with super chunky winter tyres. The little 1.4 litre rust bucket was unstoppable...especially after the 4th or 5th l'eau de vie - We are due to leave LHR at 0855
- Land at Geneva at 1135. Geneva airport is notorious for being rubbish at snow clearance. There is lots of snow forecast for Geneva tomorrow.
- The forecast is for <50cm snow tomorrow along the Autoroute Blanche and 80cm+ up the bloody Alp we're driving up
- It's forecast to snow heavily at Geneva all weekend. I really do not want to spend Monday evening listening to "how much is that doggy in the window"
BTW, which town are you going to? We could watch your hire car exploits on their webcam

It looks rather dark and grey there at the moment!!!!
Look for a VW Polo sometime tomorrow afternoon going like a bat of hell!
A break in the snow for Sheffield after snowing for the last few hours. Snow just a fraction deeper than the height of an iPhone (4) here. More showers forecast through the day. Happy to WFH as the traffic chaos on the hilly roads has been quite bad apparently.

Les Saises, it's very nice there and much quieter than the bigger towns. Some excellent walks in the valleys and good for ski de fond and raquettes, and excellent if with children. Megeve's great but a little too 'bling' now. Have a great time in the Polo..."et quand en france, merde...!"Webcam link here... http://www.lessaisies.com/webcams-les-saisies.html

Thanks for that. The family is exactly the reason why I booked there, rather than one of the bigger resorts. My wife and lad like to ski cruisy blues and greens and we really don't fancy all the bling that goes with a big town.
I just hope the ploughs can keep the mountain road clear enough to give us a chance tomorrow!

Just back from walking the dog in the Wyre Forest. Nr Bewdley for the geographically challenged.
Been some flakes and some was on the ground but melting fast.
In other news the dog got so mucky that a golden retriever turned into a v hairy chocolate lab. In the post walk washing no1 daughter missed the dog with one of the rinsing buckets of water and got me right in the nads. #wetpants

Absolutely hoofing with rain in Cheltenham at the moment. Not even sleet. Blinkin' cold though.

Bury - Heywood - Rochdale was the dividing line (at least it was @7.00am) In Rossendale it was proper heavy flaky stuff and everybody was doing 15-20 mph down the M66. Central Manchester was freezing and sleety
Nothing here in Bury. I woke upto a light dusting and there's been no more since. I hear that Oldham was hit pretty hard.
I want snow
