80 not 77

RIP Terry
Changed. Sky said 77 but their ticker said 80.

One of the best England managers we have had, he was a positive bloke the players worked well under. The dirge we endured after him was painful. RIP.

The players liked him and would work hard for him. Half the battle. It was a very talented squad and could have achieved much, but then there was the "brown envelope" era and Tel had to go.

Me too. And I got to meet him for a second. I was aged 6 or 7.

Yeah that's a sad one. Massive influence to many artists. Saw them a few years back in Glasgow and they were great.

Think a lot of people forget how much influence killing joke had across the rock/metal world.

I met him once, very briefly. I used to work for Carlton Television, and one day when I walked back into the offices, he was standing by the reception desk. I did a double-take, (to register in my head - I know that face, who is it? type of thing) and he said "alright mate, how's it going?". Very friendly guy.

I always remember Terry with a big smile on his face consoling Gareth Southgate after he missed the penalty in Euro 96, as if to say don't worry there are bigger things to worry about. Fantastic example of man management and sums him up for me.

Sad, I forgot that he wrote the Hazel books... but can remember the TV series.
( Hazell was quite a dark & mysterious PI... if I remember correctly.)

NB: 78 / 79... so a good period for motors.
