Indeed, it is often an 'Indian Summer' and can be quite hot in September.

Anyway, now that summer is hopefully over, what are the criteria for the Winter thread again... cool
I think we'll start by understanding the criteria for an 'Indian Summer' irked

Lots of mutterings about an Atlantic winter... so warmer than average.

This MetOffice video shows nicely what's happening now. A cut-off low gets stuck off the coast of Ireland and keeps throwing weather fronts at us. Western areas will get really quite wet - SE areas will see French storm systems imported, along with warmer than usual air (for a low pressure setup).

On top of that, Hurricane Danielle is likely to head our way later next week.

(As usual, will be just a storm by the time it reaches us).

Unsettled is the outlook.

Storm risk tonight, especially Hampshire and Berkshire. Chance of tornado too...

My phone told me to expect rain at 2pm today too....
1. Don't trust your phone when showers are expected
2. It's tonight.

Been grey all day long in West Berks frown

More of a showery outlook today - unlikely to get a repeat of those massive line storms, but heavy downpours will occur.

Quick update on the threat today - anywhere could see showers, most likely concentration of heavier stuff in the Scottish borders, towards Glasgow area.
