The PH Nightshift (Vol 2)
Discussion
Sod's law.
And well I have my 206 GTi which is my current daily. But the MOT is due on it next week. I need to spend about £100 on parts before it will pass plus the test fee. However in January I bought a 406 2.2 HDi Coupé which I was going to use as a cheap daily so I could save some money and do something silly with the GTi (would really like to put a turbo on it) but at the time I bought it the insurance was a tad more than realistic (£900 upwards with a black box) because I only had 1 years NCB from my previous cheap run around as the GTi has my main NCB.
However ran a quote today on it out of interest and it's suddenly dropped to £397 for the year with no black box. I was planning on leaving it until next month after my birthday when I turn 22 as the quotes I ran previously showed it dropping dramatically, but this quote is even cheaper than what I was expecting.
At the moment due to student finances I'm struggling for money and don't have much cash until payday in 2 weeks time.
It's a decision between spending the money on getting the GTi through it's test and struggling with the fuel until payday. But having a car with proven reliability.
Or I insure the Coupé (£59 deposit) and cheaper running costs with it returning roughly double if not more mpg. But having a car that can throw itself into limp mode now and again due to the DPF being blocked. Then get the GTi tested after payday.

That's what im tempted to do, just means I need to leave for work a bit earlier incase it does throw itself into limp mode. In limp mode it will still get up to speed it's just acceleration performance is dramatically less than what it should be.
And pug fan? Me?

hahaha... I assume you have that many so that at least one is actually working at any given time Love the colour of the 206...
I've looked at picking up a GTi as a runaround... As much as I prefer the Clio 172 and 182, a GTi at the same price is usually much lower condition + they're a bit different!

Nah haha, the red 206 at the back is my old cheap run around HDi which has just been parked up since the MOT run out, I should really put it in for test then flog it. The 406 was the recent purchase, and the GTi-6 I bought to use for parts for the GTi.Love the colour of the 206...

There great little cars and can be picked up for pennies now. I bought this one in 2012 with 35K on the clock genuine millage for £1100. Speaking of the Clio's I nearly bought a phase 1 172 over the weekend until the deal fell through at the last minute.
Do it :P what cars do you have currently?
I get ear ache from my mum time to time about the number of pugs, and the state some have been sat on the drive in. But She soon goes away. I've just been reading an article on here about the Clio V6, i've always fancied one of them. I don't know why, there's just something about it that has that want factor.

Daily - a leased Skoda Citigo 1.0
Weekend car/track car - RX-8 R3
Summer toy - RX-7 FD
Racecar - E30 320
Surprisingly, I probably have the most fun in the Citigo! Its so ridiculously slow that you can drive it on the absolute limit all the time and yet still be doing legal speeds!
On a run I'll get 70mpg out of it but I'm currently averaging 30mpg, which I'm quite proud of!
Yeah - I'd love a Clio V6 too... Poorly built, not that fast, not very refined, uneconomical, impractical... But its just a fun little car! A good investment too!
