Meanwhile, parts of Spain are already hitting 40 degrees and it's only May - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-61533719

I have teams in India and one of them was saying it hit 49 and the air conditioner couldn't cope. This was the same time I was moaning I couldn't sleep because it was almost 20 and muggy.

The humidity makes a huge difference - i occasionally feel uncomfortable here in the north of Scotland in the high teens but was happy enough at 39c in Morocco recently. The air was blowing straight off the sahara so the humidity was as low as 5% at times.

In saying that, it’s probably quite humid in India which must be pretty grim.

It's been 24c at night in the bedroom a couple of times this year. Humidity is probably around 20%; we're down to a top sheet and heavy blanket, with the ceiling fan on (very) low - very pleasant at night.

Against that, I can remember cooler nights in the UK with miserable humidity and I've really struggled; humidity is a huge factor in comfort.

Looks like a lot of home grown scattered storms are happening or have happened today.

London looks like it had a fair bit, yet no reports in here.

Plenty of scattered showers here in Kent but no storms. Sun is currently shining but plenty of dark moody clouds on the horizon.

A few rumbles in Surrey, with a bit of rain, and also some clear patches with hot sun. I've been nipping in and out with my laptop all day to catch some heat!

Cold enough in Surrey for me to be missing having the heating on! FFS it's nearly June.

Bad news for you then, after high pressure nudges in and brings a smidgin of warmth over Fri/Sat, it then promptly will nudge out and sit to our W/NW. This, as all weather people will know wink, will bring northerly winds and cloud.

I’m sat in my office at home with my fleece on - it’s freezing and obviously, as I’m not a trillionaire, I can’t afford to put the heating on.

Mrs Puggit locked our energy costs in during Aug 2021 for 2 years. Everyone welcome around ours'!

My office at Waterloo (SE1)had a lightening strike yesterday. It frazzled an alarm as it was still going off this morning, lights flickered and the plastic covers from the ceiling mounted ac units fell out. I was working from home so missed the fun but by all accounts it was deafening and the 3 storey concrete building shook from top to bottom.

A colleague told me about the thunderstorm in Canary Wharf yesterday, sounded fun. Today is a first, as I’m in the office which is on the 20th floor and I’m in the cloud level!

Regret to report, warm sunny weather now 3 days away rather than the standard 2.

Fecking freezing here on the Berks/Oxon frontier. And raining. And windy.

Very disappointing down in Surrey, I even pre-empted the cold start to the day and had the UFH in the living room come on this morning. That's pretty depressing really given June is two days away.

There will be no heating on here. Upper lips will be stiffened, woolly pullies will be donned.
