Ha! Your post highlights something that annoys me beyond reason on forums/the internet - people asking for advice on insurance for their car, which will bear no relation at all to anyone else's circumstances and therefore any advice that says "Oh you should try Direct Line (or whoever) as they're really cheap for me with my 1.0 Suzuki that I do 5 miles a year in and I'm 56 yo woman with no convictons" is essentially worthless. The only advice is - go and get a quote from elsewhere to compare with. Call a broker, go online elsewhere etc etc.V8mate said:
There must be something about his circumstances that 'U Drive Cover' offers the best quote. Why are all the mainstream contenders abandoning him?
I genuinely have no idea what it could be - the car is completely standard, I'm a homeowner, safe job, average mileage, never had insurance refused or cancelled, clean licence, and a few years ago I was paying the region of £300 for bigger cars.Russian Troll Bot said:

Are Golf diesels really that desirable to joyriders?

I think someone else may have mentioned something like this, but hey ho.
This certainly doesn’t annoy me beyond reason, but when I hear it, I feel like slapping them.
My wife, 59, and her brother, 60, when talking about their parents, refer to them as “mummy” and “daddy.”
“Will you pick daddy up, or do you want me to do it?”, “Mummy’s birthday next week, don’t forget to get her a card.”
Her brother’s kids do it too, two women, 4l and 39, and a 35 y.o. guy.
Maybe I’m wrong, but it doesn’t sound right to me.
Of course I’d never say anything, but when I hear my wife say mummy and daddy, I feel little flames coming out of my ears.
I was asked by my mum to stop saying "mummy" and "daddy" when I was aged about 8!This certainly doesn’t annoy me beyond reason, but when I hear it, I feel like slapping them.

Oh yes!![mad](/inc/images/mad.gif)
This does my nut in. Constantly falling off the plate between mouthfuls, or when carting dirty plates to the sink after a meal. Sure, they feel "reassuringly expensive", and are a joy to hold, but every bloody time I put them down they over-balance and fall off the plate...

I like my cutlery to have a bit of heft, handy in case I need to dominate the staircase at a moments notice.

Agreed. Nothing but Americanised attention-seeking one-upmanship contests for spoilt brats. I didn't even go to my university one as I was commentating on a speedway meeting the same night - I know what I like.DaveGoddard said:
