Meanwhile up in the Scottish Highlands it seems to me that we have had a pretty dry February and start to March and had the lightest snowfalls this winter compared to previous years.

A little bit of drizzle this morning but the sky is quite light right now and no rain or drizzle.

Local forecaster saying tomorrow will be windy but then starting to warm up a bit.

This was one year ago today looking across one of our fields.

And this was yesterday as we popped out for a drive.

We had a little bit of snow on the hills last week, the rain has washed it away.

In the past 12 months here in the SE, only May and June did we see rainfall levels below the long-term average.
It’s felt that way in west berks. May and June were lovely, then it’s been back to lots of rain.

Miserable here. Been 100% rain since 3am and is until 6pm tonight.

Got some friends in London today over from NZ. Picked a good week for it. hehe

Walking the dog is a nightmare. Even if you try and avoid the really muddy bits the fields are so sodden she's covered in mud from those. Need a bath everytime.

I'm fed up of it. There have been hardly any of those crisp clear winter days, it's just be non stop rain almost. The odd pause for a couple of days then it pisses it down again.

To honest, I don't think it would have made any difference what week they chose.

Contrary to popular belief, I'm coming round to the opinion that the weather is, in general, better in the Highlands of Scotland than it is in the Thames Valley.

It often is in March and April. July and August it goes to st.

ETA ... when everybody turns up and complains about the weather (and the midges).

With the amount of rain we've had and seem to be getting in the near future, the Thames Valley might need to be re-branded to simply 'The Thames'

Yep, we're under a winter storm warning. As someone posted on fb '0-65 inches of snow. Sunshine, cloudy, foggy, rainy, snowy. Windy, not windy. Anywhere from 28°-65°.'

Nice view from the office but that sharp turn left to get onto the hard shoulder looks a bit daft, or is it to allow the driver to have an unobscured view up the hard shoulder?

Websites like this are interesting - there are a couple - this one based in Plymouth

https://www.bearsbythesea.co.uk/wxsunhourssummary....

They record sunshine hours, rainfall, temperature etc. Very interesting to see quite how overcast and wet Feb was, and also looking at yearly rainfall how wet 2023 was. Normally by now there are a few sunny days and the bike has come out for a quick run, this year I've not even bothered looking at it. Would be nice to get 3 dry days to paint the fence, but aside from doing a short bit which needed to be done ASAP there hasn't been any weather window.

As much as anything else it's utterly depressing.

Glorious day in West Berks - lovely warm lunch time walk with a bit of a gusty breeze.

Confirmation that it has been the wettest year and wettest 18 months since records began for parts of England:

Just misery in the NW as usual - rain, wind and more rain to come.

I've just had 5 days in Madrid and coming back from 20 degrees, solid blue skies and light winds to this, is quite hard to take to say the least. The quality of life difference is quite stark. Few more years of work, then out of here with any luck - and never to return!
