I saw that. The challenge of getting it running by growing your own single-crystal turbine blades seemed one it turns out I could pass over Two issues -
Firstly: Avon engines are known for cracks in the turbine case that are impossible to repair due to the metallurgy, and the few good remaning NOS cases are hoovered up by the operators of the few still-flying Hunters/Canberras
Secondly: Even if you could get it running, you wouldn't be allowed to run it anywhere. I'm involved with Historic Aero Engines who ground run piston aero engines at shows. They're loud, need a large cordon and lots of safety, and thats for something that makes very little thrust as the props are locked into zero pitch.
A jet engine would be orders of magnitude noisier, would need tethering down against the full thrust it can produce, and would blow away/barbeque everything behind it!

You're thinking very horizontally... Could a demo jet engine not be mounted vertically, exhaust pointing up?Zippee said:
Not frivolous as yet, but I want a drone and not yet sure if it'll be used once and then put aside. Looked at the dji mini 3 as costco have them on offer for £400.
To help decide I've ordered the £2.73 one from Temu... never used that site before so good knows what I'll get but looking on there I reckon there's potential for a lot of cheap money wasting.

It's far too light, so it gets moved around in a breeze and the HD camera is rubbish but for the price it's a laugh.

I had, but thank you. https://www.lego.com/en-gb/product/mini-disney-the...

It's been an expensive week in Disney. Quite frivolous.
Firstly, I decided it was probably easy for him indoors and i to have Annual passes, as we'll probably be back again soon and as we've just done 5 days anything we do now will be free technically.
First thing I saw on walking into the Phantom Manor shop on the monday morning was the clock I'd been looking for, for so long. I bought that immediately.. not my pic I add, yet to unbox it.
There were a couple of bits of clothing I didn't have as well, a spirit jersey and a cardigan in the wallpaper pattern so had to have that too.
I spent most of the week looking for two things, the Phantom Manor gate plaque and a portrait of the Lord of the Manor that changed in the dark. The portrait eluded me, but I did manage to find the plaque, which really finishes off my HM Themed downstairs loo...
I'm also a collector of Small World, so was pleased to find a backpack as they dont tend to have much for that particular ride usually.
By Friday I'd given up all hope of finding my HM Portrait and concluded it would have to wait until the next visit, so with my leftover budget I bought this:
Him indoors is now breathing a sigh of relief that we're home, at least for now as it's my birthday on Thursday

I'm here! That's been on for a while, but I'm currently trying to shed projects rather than take them on!

Surely Colin Furze could mount it to the back of something? Two issues -

Just as good at keeping stuff warm/hot...
Good thinking. Actually, given these events are often all day and into the evening and sometimes across both days of the weekend, I’m increasingly inclined to buy a portable gas or electric BBQ and start cooking us real food as a method of staving off the insanity (and avoiding the late night McDs on the way home). If you’ve been to a dance competition then you’ll know exactly what I mean..!

Just ordered one of those ninja creami machines. Will see if it actually works. Possibly just a fancy shaped blender, but people swear it makes nice ice cream etc. Will end up stuck in a cupboard.
Intrigued to know how you get on with it. Ice cream is my weakness. I’ve never been much for eating chocolate or crisps at night, but a tub of ice cream is my absolute downfall. I’ve stopped buying it as I’ve been trying to lose a few pounds so I know if I bought a creami it would be the end of me
In similar cooking gadget vein though, I recently bought one of these, a Ferrari Pizza Oven:
I’d originally bought an outdoor pizza oven which it turned out to be utterly useless so decided this could be used all year round. Have to say I’m hugely impressed with it. Cooks a pizza to Pizza Express standards in about four minutes and also does some pretty nice naan/flatbreads as well. It’s been in pretty constant use since I got it.

Just Googled that, was it really 300 quid So just a heads up as you may want to cancel it.......
Back in the spring I bought a Gastroback breadmaker for 130 quid (that is highly rated) as they do an ice cream maker attachment for around 40 quid (had to buy that from Amazon Germany as UK don't do them............
PS. the ice cream is ready to eat straight away with the Gastro

I've had the breville version of that for about 10 years. Getting the pizza dough right is the important bit, so it doesn't rise into the hearing element.Ice cream is my weakness. I'd recommend throwing it away if you're trying to lose weight, though!
