I've been wondering for years how one would solve that issue and access the crockery in such a way as to prevent it from breaking.

(That's not a sly comment on it being a repost, BTW. I really have)

The only solution I can think of is removing a pane of glass.

edit: That's assuming it is a door that swings open. If it's a sliding door then the solution is easy.

The finger holes in the doors at the bottom left of the picture would suggest it has sliding doors

Just thinking about if it were a swing out door.

I'd probably wedge a cushion or blanket underneath the door as someone opened it wide enough to get their hand in. Worst case scenario is we'd suffer a few casualties but be able to save most... omelette, breaking eggs and all that.

Easy!
Drill a 10mm hole in the cabinet, then
You'd probably need to spay the inside of the door with a releasing agent (WD40 would do) to stop the foam sticking to the door.

The lift the cabinet off the wall and lie it flat solution is just boring. Not enough power tool usage!

I was thinking more like a foam fire extinguisher - easier to clean up afterwards wink

Alternatively...

Cut a hole in the top of the cabinet and reach down to get them

I'm surprised nobody has commented that it's not aligned with Schrodinger's principle at all (kittens be damned)...

The plates are not broken, however they will break if we open the door. There is no uncertainty.

Anyway, sorry, this being the geek thread I could not help being pedantic.

I believe they are called 'Sponge Bombs' and I was 'awakened' to their potential military use in Gaza after a news clip mentioned them a few weeks ago - drop one down the Hamas tunnels to close them off and prevent future use etc.

Or take off and nuke the entire site from orbit; it's the only way to be sure. silly

Surely the PH response is "I can afford a new set of plates, just open the door and let them drop. Then get the maid to tidy up"
