Surely the PH response is "I can afford a new set of plates, just open the door and let them drop. Then get the maid to tidy up"
Pft. Just get someone in to take away the whole cabinet away along with the contents and have a new one put in its place. No need for the maid to miss a few shards. smile

Indeed, as a powerfully built company director, I can write it off as an expense and can actually carry the armoire myself.
I will still send a strongly worded email to the manufacturer though.

I've been wondering for years how one would solve that issue and access the crockery in such a way as to prevent it from breaking.

(That's not a sly comment on it being a repost, BTW. I really have)

The only solution I can think of is removing a pane of glass.

edit: That's assuming it is a door that swings open. If it's a sliding door then the solution is easy.
Kitchen cabinets are often hung from a bracket screwed into the wall, so can easily be taken off the wall without opening the door.

Once off the wall just slowly tilt it backwards until the plates are no longer pushed against the door.

I am confused.

The statement is correct.

Or am I missing something? Like a sense of humour, perhaps.

As dxg says, it is correct. So you don't need to explain why it is correct as they are aware it is correct. smile

As vaud says, most people skim read and would misread it as either being the whole glass of water, or misread it as the galaxy (or universe) and not the solar system.

It's sort of like those annoying "which container fills up first?" puzzles that try to trick you by having some of the pipes closed off but you can easily miss that they are.

When Michelangelo unveiled his statue of David, it wasn't his hammer, chisel or the block of marble that got the credit.

(Yes it's a crap analogy. Bite me.)

... But it's true. So the pub bloke is spitting facts?

Anyway, I thought it was a funny spin on the "molecules/grains of sand VS stars in the universe" trope.

It was. I sent it to a friend of mine who happens to be a mathematician, physicist and astronomer. She loved it to the tune of two laughing emojis.
